Lovely! I know 2, one Anya and one Anja

ttcAlex · 19/10/2020 22:44

I know of a Polish girl here in the UK, named Anna, whose mother calls her Anya. It has got an Eastern European sound to me, I love it.

monkeyonthetable · 19/10/2020 21:44

Thank you all. Seems to be popular with most people. Smile

Great name. Love it

dottiedaisee · 18/10/2020 22:15

A really lovely name .

Awrite · 18/10/2020 21:20

I love it. Love Anna too. However, I really don't like Ann/Anne.

greytminds · 18/10/2020 21:18

Love it. It was my first choice for DD but vetoed by DH. If we have a second DD I will probably try to push for it again!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/10/2020 21:17

Anya's lovely. An international, well - known classic with-a-twist, a bit less common and more exotic/quirky than the equally lovely Anna.

If you are not 100% sure you could use a longer version to give her more options, as people use Anya as a nickname for Anna or Anastasia (as mentioned before) or even for Antonia, Angelina etc.

Swingbin · 17/10/2020 12:53

Like it but prefer Annika

Coffeeandaride · 17/10/2020 11:23

Lovely

pollywollydoodler · 17/10/2020 11:22

Lovely name. Underused.Timeless

MercyBodle · 17/10/2020 03:49

Lovely. It has a lot going for it - international feel, short and straightforward to spell and pronounce, not over used. Nice nickname option in Annie.

StressyMcStressFace · 16/10/2020 21:01

It's my dd18s name. I Love it and more importantly she loves it too. It's still fairly underused I think

ZebraKid71 · 16/10/2020 20:57

It's lovely, it was on my list for dd1 - glad we didn't go for it as her best friend is an Anya and there is one in her swimming lesson (I'd only ever met one in my whole life prior to this)

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2020 20:57

I prefer Anna but it's nice enough.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 16/10/2020 20:38

I think it’s lovely

Iheardarumour · 16/10/2020 20:32

Potato for posh salads. Sorry.

ThistleWitch · 16/10/2020 20:28
@ThistleWitch gah how did I forget her original name.
i know, I'm embarrassed for you! call yourself ScoobyGang7?? pfffft (I had to google her whole name, she says it in S5 when the watchers council come over and she is worried they are demon hunting)

Scoobygang7 · 16/10/2020 20:26

@ThistleWitch gah how did I forget her original name.

Kanaloa · 16/10/2020 20:15

I think Anya is a very cool name, reminds me of Buffy.

micc · 16/10/2020 19:52

Love it! My DD was nearly Anya, lovely name. Maybe short for Anastasia?

ThistleWitch · 16/10/2020 19:38
@ThistleWitch Anyanka
but she went from Aud to Anyanka to Anya

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 16/10/2020 19:34

@Trainjourney Precisely why it shouldn't be used. Cultural appropriation! (I jest)

popsydoodle4444 · 16/10/2020 19:31

Beautiful name;I know a Anya but it's spelt the traditional way as Anja

Firebird83 · 16/10/2020 19:29

I prefer Anna
