Mn

I prefer Frank and don't think having a C or K starting surname with it sounds odd at all. Would still consider using Frankie as a nn (know it's lengthening the name) with Frank on BC. I do know a Francis who is always known as Frankie. Have to admit when I heard what their name was I did think to me that's a girls name and would. Ever call a boy that but have heard it used a bit more recently and know I hear a lot of people on MN say they like it on a boy so seems to be being reclaimed for a boys name in current trends.

Swearwolf · 20/10/2020 22:59

Definitely prefer Frank. What about Franklin?

perfumeistooexpensive · 20/10/2020 17:43

Francis is a great name and Frankie fir a small child and Frank for an adult are lovely short names.

Joolsin · 20/10/2020 17:18

Confusingly, I don't like Francis or Frank, but love Fran and Frankie.

LittleTiger007 · 20/10/2020 17:14

I prefer Franklin shortened to Frankie. I dont like Francis personally,

Twizbe · 18/10/2020 21:58

One of my names is Frances. It's my mums name and she shortens it to Frankie so for me it's a girls name.

My grandad was Francis nn Frank

VenusClapTrap · 18/10/2020 09:36

I like Francis. Dislike Frankie.

If you’re name is Angela, you can use all three.

AlyMcNabs · 16/10/2020 19:14

There are three boys named Frankie in my immediate area. I like it 😊

MondeoFan · 16/10/2020 19:10

I really love Frank. It's a great name, Frankie is more a girls name but I do know 1 man named Frankie.
Francis makes me think of a girl, so I'm choosing Frank

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 19:07

@AriettyHomily I'm not following you? It's Friday lol!

Francis is lovely

AriettyHomily · 16/10/2020 12:21

Francis.

The nickname will revolve naturally.

He will forever say 'Francis...I s'

Can you tell what my name is with an e?!

Oneandabean · 16/10/2020 12:19

Francis to me is girly. Frank is fine with frankie as a nn

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2020 12:03

Fran not Fean.
I'd use it as a middle name to avoid the short form.

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2020 11:18

I'd guess a Frankie to be a girl, Francesca. It seems babyish for a boy.

Francis will be Fean or Frank so I'd not use it with a K surname.

zigaziga · 16/10/2020 09:43

I like it - Francis as full name, Frankie as a nickname for now, might become Frank when older but might not..

elfran · 16/10/2020 09:23

I love Francis (and Frances, both are great names)! I'd use it and push Frank or Frankie as a nn.

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 16/10/2020 09:13

Frankie always makes me think of Frankie Dettori, big personality.
Nice to hear of a baby Francis for a change.

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 09:07

Yeah @MercyBodle I'm not sure it's a bad clash, I am just conscious of it. So it would be like the same sounds of Frank Carter, Frank Clarkson, Frank Kelley etc. You get the picture from those...
Does that clash too much? :/

MercyBodle · 16/10/2020 08:56

I really like Frank. I'm not keen on Francis or Frankie (for a boy) though. If Frank doesn't work with your surname I can understand not using it. That would rule them all out for me.

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 08:02

Ps surname isn't Kettle lol!
