I'm not joking.... Buzz

DH has come home from work and out of nowhere he loves the name Buzz. Apparently he met someone today called Buzz and really wants to use it. I've never seen him more passionate about a name. I hate it. At first I thought it was a wind up but I think he might be serious. There is not a chance I will be naming my child Buzz. Can you think of any names that could possibly be similar to Buzz? I might have to compromise with a similar middle name. I don't know what to do.

Buzz aldrin is really called Edwin, how about that with buzz as a nickname

Neolara · 14/10/2020 07:39

You'd be setting him up for a lifetime of people yelling "To infinity, and beyonnnnnnnnd!" at him.

BeMorePacific · 14/10/2020 07:32

I know a Baby Buzz. He does suit his name!

Swingbin · 14/10/2020 01:34

Buzz cuts, bees, vibrators. Please don’t.

Soupcon · 13/10/2020 23:37

There was a baby Buzz who used to come with his dad to NCT coffee mornings in north London when DS was a newborn. All I remember is that the dad was killer good looking, and Buzz had very funky babygros.

Ellmau · 13/10/2020 23:36

Boris ;)

TiddyTid · 13/10/2020 23:34

I like it but I knew a very nice man called Buzz who has now sadly passed away. Locally very well known so in my local area it's a pretty normal, well known name!

Kittykatmacbill · 13/10/2020 23:28

Only if you call him Edwin Eugene in honour of Aldrin. Although Aldrin is probably the nicest of his names. According to dh who is a massive Apollo nerd, aldrin always seems the most hard work of the three! So maybe go for Neil or Michael instead....

user27378 · 13/10/2020 23:23

I love it actually. The are about 10 born a year according to Dark Greener. What about Buster? Or maybe he'd like Ezra, which is popular now.

VenusClapTrap · 13/10/2020 23:15

I used to have a neighbour called Buzz. He seemed fairly normal. I never found out if it was a nickname or his actual name.

How about Spike as a similar name? I used to know a Spike too, at the same time I knew Buzz funnily enough.

MyNameForToday1980 · 13/10/2020 23:13

It was on my boy list, in a sort of "names I'd never use but sound quite fun section"

Maybe you could create a similar section on your list.

danascully96 · 13/10/2020 23:08

Names that are similar -- short, casual, and maybe start with a B:

Blake
Leo
Jack (probably way too popular)

Buzzing is an annoying sound, so I would not go for it. You have a say too, OP! Buzz can be a nn that's unrelated to your son's name. Dress him up like Buzz Lightyear for some kind of festivity (if you celebrate Halloween for instance). That way you can still call him Buzz, but give him a sensible name.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/10/2020 22:51

The rule is, I believe, that as an adult the name you choose for your baby has to work in the spectrum of professions from clown to lawyer.

MrsKellySeveride · 13/10/2020 21:50

I know a Buzz - in his 70's, real name Courbet 😊

JuliaJohnston · 13/10/2020 21:48

Buzby Confused

Escourtie · 13/10/2020 21:41

I know it sounds silly but have you thought of Buzby/ Busby as a name and Buzz as nickname

OhioOhioOhio · 13/10/2020 21:32

Yes Frank Skinner's son is called Buzz.

Kanaloa · 13/10/2020 21:29

When naming my kids I always tried to think would I like this name for myself. I don’t really like Buzz and I don’t think I’d like to be called Buzz. Maybe you could use it as a middle name.

Mamascoven · 13/10/2020 21:17

Love it personally! Giovanna Fletchers son is named it. The others are Buddy & Max!

TinaTraybake · 13/10/2020 21:17

@elQuintoConyo

Awful. Why would your dh want to set his child up for a lifetime of teasing Confused I'd prefer to ditch the dh and give the child a beautiful name.without dh's idiotic input.

decoraters · 13/10/2020 21:15

out of nowhere he loves the name Buzz.

Buzz is not a name, it is a sound.

elQuintoConyo · 13/10/2020 21:14

Only if your surname is Cutt.

Or Eebee.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 13/10/2020 21:13

@AbbieFB

Frank Skinner called his son Buzz.
So Buzz Skinner, I imagine?

Sounds like a rechargeable beard trimmer.

cosmopolitanplease · 13/10/2020 21:12

I like the name Buzz. It's Frank Skinner's son's name and as he mentions him often on his radio show I've grown fond of it.
