Remy - thoughts? And ideas for a middle name?

We’ve had a difficult job deciding on a boy’s name but Remy has recently grown on us. Just wonder what other people think of it? Would you associate it with a boy? As keep reading it’s a unisex name. And any middle name suggestions?

I would think the name suits a boy better than a girl. I like it and think Remy James is lovely.

I think of Remy Ma (ferndale rapper) and Rémy Martin the cognac.

I think of it as a boys name that for whatever reason feels like a girls name or at least unisex.

Ps... I think the pps mention of an insult might be localised. I'm from the North of England and have never heard it used that way.

My driving instructor was a Remy and a friends husband is Jean-Remi. It's quite popular in older generations where I live as there's a lot of French crossover. I like it 🙂

Obviously it's connected to the Disney film but I don't think that should necessarily be a deal breaker. When he's an Adult people won't make the same connection, just as I don't automatically think of Peter Pan when I meet someone called Wendy (despite that name not even existing until JM Barrie wrote the book).

Thanks everyone. I don’t mind the drink association at all, people still use the names Jack and Daniel after all! But it is a shame if everyone over a certain age thinks of a horrible school insult..

Like Lucas and James middle name suggestions

I immediately thought of the rat from Ratatouille. I don’t dislike it but I wouldn’t choose it to name my child.

It's a nice name, I think of it as unisex. Remy for a boy and Remi for a girl.

Our friend has a Remy. It really suits him. It’s a nice name. I don’t get the ‘remedial’ reference
