Kitson, Baxter, Abel or Denny?

I love Abel and Denny, DH loves Kitson and Baxter. Kitson is growing on me. I also liked the name Henry but SIL just had a boy and named him Henry so now I'm stuck. What are your opinions on Kitson, Baxter, Abel or Denny?

None.

Dennis. Daniel. Jett.

mylittleavalon · 18/10/2020 09:04

I'm obviously in the minority here but I absolutely love Baxter.
Also like pp suggestion of Denver nn Denny as Denny in itself does not feel like a complete name to me.
Kitson I'm not sure. I would think why not name them Christopher nn Kit
Abel, I think ok

TheDaydreamBelievers · 17/10/2020 19:38

Kitson is the nicest but it still sounds like a company. Denny I think is just awful.

I'm sure you'll pick something lovely. Your other children's names are very nice

clary · 17/10/2020 11:45

Op, I love your kids' names but like others,am less keen on your new choices.

These are the brothers of children I know with your other kids' names:
Robin
George
Arthur
Alfie
Elijah
Chester
Oliver

Any good? I also agree that Christopher nn Kit is nice

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 16/10/2020 22:50

I really like Baxter

foxtiger · 07/10/2020 12:25

I think I actually like Kitson best out of this bunch. I know of someone in my town who called a boy Kitson with the intention of calling him Kit for short (he must be in his 20s now), but it's kind of a familiar name around here because the Kitsons were an influential local family who had lots of streets and things named after them. Even without that connection, I don't think it's an outrageous idea given how many other "surnamey" names are popular.

Denny makes me think of Dennis Wilson (it's what his friends and family called him) who was pretty cool when he was young, but his later life is quite a sad story. I'd have mixed feelings about using it as a name now.

Baxter and Abel are not really my thing, sorry.

@MatildaonaWaltzer
I think I want to stick to a two syllable name seeing as my other DC have two syllable names so I don't think we'll use Christopher.

If you want Kit, it’s the diminutive for Christopher, whereas Kitson is the surname of either a footballer or a comedian. I’d assume you were rabid Reading FC fans.

Denny - chain of cheap US diners. Surname

Baxter - other than Baxter Drury, it’s a time of soup and a surname. Baxter Drury lives up to it through sheer punk.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 06/10/2020 08:34

none of them

legalalien · 06/10/2020 08:32

Dylan? Just because I know boys with two of your sons' names and they both have brothers called Dylan...

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 06/10/2020 08:32

Not keen on any I'm afraid, Denny is a popular diner in North America, hundreds of restaurants, and a few in the UK too!

Turtleturtle81 · 06/10/2020 08:23

@EugenesAxe

They’re mostly bad.

Denny is the surname of a soldier in Pride and Prejudice that Lydia and Kitty flirt with. Baxter makes me think of Chapman Baxter, the American perpetually on Death Row, in The Day Today.

Abel is at least Biblical so some basis in tradition? Not the happiest of characters though.

OMG, thank you for reminding me about Chapman Baxter!

@Skyliner001
Why would I not be serious? I've asked for opinions to help name my baby because I'm currently stuck.

And as if you are serious.

Skyliner001 · 06/10/2020 07:21

All terrible... Confused

percheron67 · 05/10/2020 19:29

Kitson. Home made car. Baxter - tin of soup or surname. Denny is fine if you want him to be in Eastenders or the like. Abel - if his is not too clever he may be known as Not Very. Give the child a break, please.

ChodeOfChodeBall · 05/10/2020 19:25

@Toddlerteaplease Septimus is the best suggestion by miles.

They’re all dreadful to be honest. I know a dog called Denny but never heard of it as a human name. Maybe it could work as a nickname for Dennis? Abel obviously has negative biblical connotations. Baxter sounds like a Beano character. Dexter is slightly nicer? Kitson looks made up in a bad way but I do like Kit (could be a nn for Christopher instead). What about Harry instead of Henry?

WokThisWay · 05/10/2020 17:03

Ooh, your children's names are nice! I don't like your new thoughts though, sorry.

How about...

Heath
Lev
Dashiell
Idris
Rex

Changedname81 · 05/10/2020 16:59

Max
Gus
Seth
Benjamin
Amos
Leo
Dexter

:)

Your current children’s names are lovely, but I’m not that keen on any of the new ones - sorry OP

Good luck with your seventh! You’re very brave! Grin
