Baby girl is two weeks old today, and we’re a bit stuck for a name. We seem to keep coming back to these two: Gaia Delphine and Ingrid Isolde. Which do you prefer? (Please, if you hate them both, could you refrain from saying so? Thanks!)

Gaia Delphine has no particularly special meaning to us, we just like the sound. But I can’t decide if Gaia doesn’t stand out from all the other vowel-heavy names which are currently popular.

I like the alliteration of Ingrid Isolde. I like how Ingrid sounds different to the many very frilly and pretty names currently in fashion. I don’t like the sound of the name Isolde particularly, but the baby’s older sister is named after a character from opera and I’d like that little link between them.

Thanks for any feedback!

Delphine is pretty, she would spend her life telling people how to pronounce Gaia though which would be annoying. Not keen on the alliteration of the other name but as middle names are rarely used it’s not an issue though I think Astrid is similar but nicer.

Of all Delphine is the nicest name .

Oh I love Ingrid Isolde.

Gaia Daphne is nice too but Ingrid is great.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 04/10/2020 16:49

Frances..
Instead of Frank (Bruno)..

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 04/10/2020 16:48

I'd be going for Delphine Isolde.
Ingrid is ok though.

HomesUnderTheSpanner · 04/10/2020 16:47

Definitely Gaia Delphine. Congratulations! Flowers

Orphlids · 04/10/2020 16:47

@Standrewsschool, sorry, should have said in the OP, Gaia is pronounced Guy-uh.

I like ingrid but prefer delphine to isolde as a middle name

SequinSmile · 04/10/2020 16:47

I prefer Ingrid although love Delphine so maybe Ingrid Delphine? Or Delphine Ingrid?

Orphlids · 04/10/2020 16:45

@SentientAndCognisant, thank you! She looks more like a Bruno right now. She was over 11lb, so not exactly a dainty little thing!

Ingrid Isolde because I wouldn’t know how to pronounce Gaia.

Mrsbclinton · 04/10/2020 16:43

I like Ingrid. Congratulations on your baby girl x

SentientAndCognisant · 04/10/2020 16:43

Congratulations on new wee baby. How exciting! When you look at a baby does she look like Ingrid or Gaia?
Between the two choices I’d prefer Ingrid Isolde
Don’t dislike Gaia per se, just prefer Ingrid Isolde

Orphlids · 04/10/2020 16:41

@FairfaxAikman, I agree Ingrid is harsh sounding, but it’s exactly that that appeals to me!

FairfaxAikman · 04/10/2020 16:40

I would swap the names round and go Delphine Gaia.

I think Ingrid is too harsh sounding.

SE13Mummy · 04/10/2020 16:39

Ingrid Isolde, definitely.
