Mallow

Due a baby girl in November and this name keeps on popping up but I'm worried it will be a little too out there? It's a lovely flower and it seems to fit well with the middle name Kimberly. Plus it's the only name I love, the others I have shortlisted I just like.

@Popcornismandatory

I think that's a really cute name.
For a baked good or for c cartoon character
Rubybluesy · 04/10/2020 00:17

Are you joking

OneStepOneStumble · 04/10/2020 00:16

Another vote for no sorry - I can only think of marshmallow. What about something like Meryn?

CloudyVanilla · 04/10/2020 00:11

Awh. It's funny to see this here as one of my lovely guinea pigs died yesterday and he was called Mallow :( it was short for marshmallow. But I always say if you love a name then you love a name and you should use it :)

Marcipex · 04/10/2020 00:06

Marshmallow, sorry.

Mallory is nice.

IslandLulu · 04/10/2020 00:00

Why would anyone pronounce marshmallow as marshmellow?

Pipandmum · 03/10/2020 23:47

I pronounce it with an 'a' sound. So yep, the name makes me think of marshmallows. And I bet that will be her nickname all through school no matter how you pronounce it.

PattyPan · 03/10/2020 23:39

Mallow is 100% not a name for a human. I love Mallory though! Although I agree it doesn't really go with Kimberley. What about just having Kim as the middle name? Or Marion Kimberly?

Nancydrawn · 03/10/2020 23:23

If you go with Mallory, I like the idea of two middle names. I'd make the first of these a one-syllable name, e.g. Mallory Jane Kimberley Smith.

Jamhandprints · 03/10/2020 23:11

Willow?

ShelbyCherryBlossom · 03/10/2020 23:10

I like Mallow! I immediately think of the flower.

(Not really relevant but Londoner here and I pronounce it "marshmellas")

Cuddling57 · 03/10/2020 23:10

Londoner here and I'd pronounce Marsh-mellow

Yes me too Grin!

Firebird83 · 03/10/2020 23:09

Marshmallow

KaptainKaveman · 03/10/2020 23:07

Mildew? That's quite nice.

Beks1 · 03/10/2020 23:04

Willow maybe?

Mallow does just make me think of marshmallow

CurtainWitcher · 03/10/2020 23:03

Marshmallow, immediately.

Never heard anyone say it with an 'E'.

SillyCow6 · 03/10/2020 23:01

I do like Mallory though!

SillyCow6 · 03/10/2020 23:00

@TorkTorkBam they were mentioned

I thought of a Tunnocks Mallows personally

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/10/2020 23:00

As well as the delish biscuits mentioned, Mallow is a town (and train station) in Cork.

Lindy2 · 03/10/2020 23:00

For what it's worth I say Marshmellow too. I guess it's a weird regional thing.

I'd pronounce Mallow as Mallow though.

I can't say it particularly grabs me as name. Mallory seems better. It will very rarely be said with the middle name so the fact that it's a bit of a mouthful doesn't really matter.

Slightlybrwnbanana · 03/10/2020 22:59

"Kimberley, mercado, and coconut creams, someone you love would love one mum"
Advert from my childhood.

Normandy144 · 03/10/2020 22:59

Go with Mallory but insert another middle name to break it up a bit. A single or double syllable name would work?

Mallory Rose Kimberly
Mallory Alice Kimberly
Mallory Jane Kimberly
Mallory Charlotte Kimberly
Mallory Taylor Kimberly
Mallory Florence Kimberly

Popskipiekin · 03/10/2020 22:59

I’d vote Marlow / Marlowe over Mallow...

Harlow? Hallie?

TorkTorkBam · 03/10/2020 22:57

The middle name doesn't matter. Full name including middle name will only be used on forms and by you when you are cross with her. If Mallory YourSurname works then go with Mallory.

AdaColeman · 03/10/2020 22:54

Her nn would be Marsh from day one at school. Mallory Kimberly just doesn’t work or flow. Back to the drawing board @SweetBabeofMine!
