What do you think of the name Felicity?

DH and I both love it.

I never thought of it until I saw a video today with the actress Felicity Jones, and now it's stuck in my list of favourite names for our baby girl due early 2021!

I'm not from the UK originally, so curious as to how it's considered here?

I love it. I think Fliss is a cute nickname too.

MikeUniformMike · 02/10/2020 12:16

Too long and too prissy. Not keen on the Flick/Fizz type nn.

Flymetothestars · 02/10/2020 12:15

I ADORE it. An excellent choice @Lucile3555

finallychangedmyusername · 02/10/2020 12:09

Really classic name that's never been overly popular, with many wonderful nickname possibilities. I also like Felicia.

MissDollyMix · 02/10/2020 00:11

I have an irrational hatred of this name. No idea why. Judging by other comments on this thread I’m alone in that. The nickname Flick just makes me think of ‘flick the bean’...sorry!

monkeyonthetable · 02/10/2020 00:02

I like it. It means happiness. I like the other happiness names too: Allegra, Joy, Blithe, Hilary.

DramaAlpaca · 01/10/2020 23:55

It's a beautiful name, unusual and feminine.

TinaTraybake · 01/10/2020 23:51

I know a little girl called Felicity! Her nickname is Fizz

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 01/10/2020 18:37

I really like it . I think it was on my parents list for me. And I've always liked it as a what if name. Would consider it for my dd

OllyBJolly · 01/10/2020 18:37

I wanted a "happy" name for DD2 and it was between Felicity (Latin Feliciter = happiness) and Joy. Went for Joy. If there had been a DD3 Felicity was a strong contender.

Carycy · 01/10/2020 18:32

I love it and it was on my list. Decided against it as it seems to be getting more and more popular. But not super common.

CountFosco · 01/10/2020 18:29

Really good classy name, well known but not at all common. Definitely passes the lawyer test so beloved of MN.

As others have said the only famous Felicity I can think of is Felicity Kendall who is a good and famously attractive actress, she'll be in her 70s now and I think most people's associations with her would be very good. Her most famous role was in a phenomenally successful sitcom in the 70s called 'The Good Life' but she's had a very long and successful career.

SteveArnottsbeadyeyes · 01/10/2020 18:25

I actually am not keep if the sound of it - it’s sounds sort of like “fussy or pernickety” but... I know felicity and she goes by fliss and she’s lovely.

Glitterbubbles · 01/10/2020 18:21

Unpopular opinion judging by previous posts but I hate it, too girly girly for my taste but each to their own Smile

LemonandLavender · 01/10/2020 18:20

I love it.

SilenceOfTheEmu · 01/10/2020 18:18

Think it’s really nice - love Fliss or Flick as a nickname

Dnadoon · 01/10/2020 18:17

Nice name but DD6 just read a book to me called Felicitys wishes and couldn't pronounce it for love nor money... kept getting tongue tied with it Smile

oldmapie · 01/10/2020 18:05

Lovely name. Reminds me of an old school friend, she was always known as 'Fliss' and was a lovely person in everyone sense of the word.

DeeThree · 01/10/2020 18:03

It's a lovely name. Perfect combination of unusual but not unheard of.

nonamenorma · 01/10/2020 18:01

My second daughter is called felicity, so unsurprisingly we love the name.

Nicknames various people have used for her include flick, liss, licity and flea. Might have to pick up on the fizzy, I kinda like that one.

TazMac · 01/10/2020 18:00

Lovely name. Traditional but not as common as some.

saynotodietcoke · 01/10/2020 17:59

Really don't like it, sounds fussy and I hate the 'liss' sound

FightMilkTM · 01/10/2020 17:58

We liked it but didn’t like any of the nicknames all that much, unfortunately.

AdaColeman · 01/10/2020 17:57

It’s a lovely name! The Felicity I know has Fizzy for a nn.

Prettybluepigeons · 01/10/2020 17:57

Felicity kendall was famous for being exceptionally attractive in an ultra feminine, kittenish way.
