Which girl name do you prefer?

Hi!

I'm new on mumsnet and expecting a lovely baby girl for early 2021 :)

Currently hesitating between three names:

Margot
Isabella
Jemima

Which one is your favourite?

Our last name is easy to pair because very short (one syllable) and common (think Smith).

Thanks!

A woman with the name Margot Ross could be anything she wanted to be.

CeibaTree · 01/10/2020 14:41

Margot and Jemima are lovely. Isabella is ok, but a bit boring.

IHeartKingThistle · 01/10/2020 14:14

Margot

Lucile3555 · 01/10/2020 14:11

@WildCherryBlossom

Isabella Ross is a little too close to Isabella Rossellini.
Good point on Isabella Rossellini! I said it to my DH but he didn't know the actress :D

Jemima

Congratulations. I actually love all 3 but my favourite is Margot. But I actually don't like the spelling myself, if I was having a baby girl I use Margo and Margaux.

wishing3 · 01/10/2020 14:02

Isabella Ross makes me think of Isabella Rossellini too- so as they’re all lovely I’d go for one of the others.

Bankingswitch · 01/10/2020 14:01

I think Jemima shortens nicely too - Jemma.

Margot could end up as Marge?

DorotheaHomeAlone · 01/10/2020 14:01

Margot Ross sounds lovely. Not at all harsh. Very elegant.

Bankingswitch · 01/10/2020 14:00

Jemima Smile

SaffieSoph · 01/10/2020 13:56

Love Margot or Jemima! Both so pretty!

PastramiNoRye · 01/10/2020 13:54

I love the four syllable flow of Isabella with the short surname but there are a LOT of girls named this at the mo. It's very pretty though.

Castoreum · 01/10/2020 13:50

I love both Jemima and Margot. Isabella is fine, I mean it's not a horrible name, but so popular that it's become a bit dull.

ThoroughlyForumed · 01/10/2020 13:29

I have no idea why but in my head Margot Ross sounds like Hugo Boss

Lucile3555 · 01/10/2020 13:18

@Sk1nnyB1tch

I love Margot! Can I just check though in my accent the T is silent so it's Margo. Would it be Margot in the UK?
It would be Margo(t) with the T silent in the UK, yes :)

SilenceOfTheEmu · 01/10/2020 13:15

Margot is the only one of the three choices that I like.

1940s · 01/10/2020 13:14

Margot goes the worst with your surname and is becoming hugely popular. Love the other two!

wowfudge · 01/10/2020 13:14

I love Margot - Jemima reminds me of Playschool, showing my age there, and Jemima Puddleduck. There are lots of Isabellas and I prefer something less widely used.

herewegonumbertwo · 01/10/2020 13:12

Isabella but Jemima goes better with your surname imo :-)

Whatsyourflava · 01/10/2020 13:11

LOVE Margot and Jemima equally!

WildCherryBlossom · 01/10/2020 13:11

Isabella Ross is a little too close to Isabella Rossellini.

IslandLulu · 01/10/2020 13:08

Jemima is lovely

IvySpivey · 01/10/2020 13:08

Jemima

CarolVordermansBum · 01/10/2020 13:05

Jemima or Isabella

Cant stand Margot
