Alexis/Aurora OR Ares/August

We've decided to stick to an 'A' theme (I have a 1-year-old named Atticus) and have narrowed it down to:

Alexis or Aurora for a girl Flowers and Ares or August for a boy Football

What do you think of these names? Happy to hear more suggestions for 'A' names too Smile

Aurora and August.

Not Augustus - makes me think of Augustus Gloop from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Other ideas - Aurelia, Augustine

If you want to avoid the same initial, how about Gaius (Guy-us) nn Gai or Gus?

Augustus is really nice. Augustine is ok too, but the August/Au-gust could be a pita.

I like Ares butt might be a PITA (pun intended).

Alexis is lovely.

I like both the girls names, I don't like the boys names and know a boy named August but he was born in August. Augustus might be better a pp said

Ares, of the two, because August will be August like the month or Au-GUST. Augustus is much easier and could be Gus as a nn.
Ares will probably be aurocorrected to Arse.

Not being funny but why the Flowers and Football? It smacks of stereotyping.

I prefer Aurora over Alexis, but they are both nice, however, Ares is the god of war so that's a hard No for me. I'd always considered August a girls name, but it a beautiful name for either so I'd go with that, but, your baby, your choice!!
