Twin baby names - Equinox and Solstice?

Hi, I’m having twins in December around the solstice and I love the changing seasons.
We’ve been thinking of naming them Solstice and Equinox, what do you all think? Too out there? Any other suggestions?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I also think this is not a great idea. Have you thought about using part of the names you've chosen to name you babies? I can't think of any examples I'm afraid. An alternative would be season inspired names like Alaska and Aspen?

seasonstweetings · 29/09/2020 23:48

Hahah do the maths back from December...

Fake news

MoonJelly · 29/09/2020 23:45

Any other suggestions?

Emma, John, Sarah, James, Elizabeth, Ian, Harriet, Anthony, Victoria, Thomas, Kate, Alexander, Rose, Edward, Emily, David ... anything but Equinox and Solstice, frankly.

MadameMeursault · 29/09/2020 23:44

You know the Equinoxes are in March and September not December?

Terrible idea, don’t do it.

JamieLeeCurtains · 29/09/2020 23:41

Absolutely go for it.

Please don't do that to your children Blush
BigChocFrenzy · 29/09/2020 23:38

Lovely for little kittens

For baby humans .... NOOO !

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 29/09/2020 23:38

(As an ex-teacher, I remember the kids with the odd names. The usual suspects & popular names all blur into one).

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 29/09/2020 23:37

They sound awesome. Both of mine have weird, earthy, nature inspired names. As an identical twin myself, with very boring, matching names, I think yours are inspired.

And you could even give them more boring middle names (as I did) but, even as adults, mine never used them, nor have ever been teased for their names.

I think that providing a given name isn’t rude, or derogatory, or hateful, then why not. Better than one of 5 Sarahs or 1 of 4 Debbies in the class (in my secondary form).

MrDarcysMa · 29/09/2020 23:36

Oh god

Houseplantmad · 29/09/2020 23:35

Awful. Both of them.

Chloemol · 29/09/2020 23:35

No, and you will be subjecting your kids to bullying

Devlesko · 29/09/2020 23:31

December babies.

Holly, Robin, Ivy, Christmas, Mary, Joseph, Donkey.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2020 23:30

@Diverseopinions

If they are girls, Holly and Ivy would be sweet. Having enjoyed threads about unusual and hard to pronounce names, I appreciate the simplicity of pretty yet straightforward ones.
Holly and Ivy would be bloody awful. Can you imagine how many times the poor kids would get the first couple of lines of the carol sung at them by some idiot who thought they'd never heard it before? How many parody versions they'd have to endure until they were both full grown (and probably thereafter).
Merename · 29/09/2020 23:29

Do you have an older child named Balonz?

Yankathebear · 29/09/2020 23:26

Amazing op. I hope that they are born under the moonlight with the sound of the waves in the background, sand between your toes and star dust in your hair.

Honestly, I’m a ridiculous hippy but no. You will forever have people asking why and if you know anything about the words.

Diverseopinions · 29/09/2020 23:26

Alban Arthan is a Welsh term for winter solstice.

TableFlowerss · 29/09/2020 23:20

Poor kids Hmm

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 29/09/2020 23:10

In the unlikely event that this is real, don't be so bloody ridiculous

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 29/09/2020 23:08

I'm going to go against the grain a bit and say as a duo I quite like them.
However I think they'd suit a pet better

ClinkyMonkey · 29/09/2020 23:06

Oh dear ....

pallasathena · 29/09/2020 23:03

It's a school night....shouldn't you be in bed?

StillWeRise · 29/09/2020 22:59

OP do you even know what these words mean?
