W name with a W surname!

bleachblondemom · 28/09/2020 16:22

My surname begins with a W and there is a boys name I really love that starts with a W. I’ve tried saying it out loud so many times but the two Ws together just sound terrible, especially as W isn’t a very strong sound so it sound a bit... can’t really think of the right word, but do you know what I mean? A bit like a speech impediment 😂
Anyone think the double W might actually be ok? I just love the name so much I’m sad I can’t use it.

Grin not quite, almost as bad though.

bleachblondemom · 02/10/2020 18:43

My FIL is a WW, it sounds great together!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/10/2020 16:38

Slightly off-topic, but there's a village in Warwickshire with one of my favourite names ever - Wootton Wawen. I always hear Elmer Fudd saying it angrily in my head whenever I drive past the sign Grin
@aToadOnTheWhole thank you :) it’s in my top two!
I'm contemplating a W W name too. Well, I say contemplating, I can't, because it's a name in a film that's just spelled differently but is phonetically the same so that would be unfair. Grin

@aToadOnTheWhole thank you :) it’s in my top two!

I like it! Definitely use it!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/09/2020 20:13

DD1 has a nearly alliterative name. She’s KC but both with a hard C sound. No one has ever batted an eyelid about it. Her name could have been spelt with a C but I preferred it with a K.

I quite like the sound of Wyatt Williams even though Wyatt isn’t a name I’d choose.

LUZON · 29/09/2020 20:06

Oops .... just seen it had been suggested by another poster

LUZON · 29/09/2020 20:05

Sorry if it’s been suggested already but it you do go for a W firstname and W surname then you should have an O middle name. Maybe Oscar.

Minai · 29/09/2020 20:01

I really like it. The sounds in Wyatt are different enough to Williams so it doesn’t sound silly. I think the names sound really nice together.

bleachblondemom · 29/09/2020 15:31

@NachoNachoMan yeah that’s what I thought too :)

I think it works well Grin

Even though its WW, it's two different sounds, Wy and Wi. Whereas two Wi sounds might not sound great, such as Winston William's, Wyatt Williams flows nicely Smile

MsEllany · 29/09/2020 11:57

I like it. It’s not William Williams!

My Greek grandad and my husbands English grandad both have names that are the equivalent of William Williams Grin

Tillygetsit · 28/09/2020 22:37

I love Wyatt Williams. Great name.

MikeUniformMike · 28/09/2020 21:38

Forgot Kylie.

MikeUniformMike · 28/09/2020 21:37

@zigaziga, yes, that's exactly it. My DC have names that are popular in their age group and they always were Firstname Surname. Not at home, obviously, but even in their group of friends.

Other than Boris, Madonna, Beyonce, Cher, Rihanna.. most people are.

zigaziga · 28/09/2020 20:31

@MikeUniformMike I agree, and in the workplace I said my name as Firstname Surname way more than I did just Firstname.

I’d answer the phone as Firstname Surname 30 times a day for instance. I’d introduce myself as Firstname Surname in meetings or when meeting someone new.

I’d refer to others as their Firstname Surname “my colleague Michael Jackson in the Legal department” etc.

I think in most professions we know people as Firsname Surname. The only exception is probably only teachers as I know my DC’s teachers only as Miss/Mrs/ Mr X although I’m sure when they first meet new members of staff or refer to each other it’s as Firstname Surname too.

It’s only now I’m a SAHM that I don’t seem to have a surname anymore.

londonscalling · 28/09/2020 20:21

It sounds like a name out of an old movie like Gone with the Wind!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 28/09/2020 20:09

I knew a female Wyatt she was great. Not heard in the male context before but like it.

I think Wyatt Williams is a great name. If you do want to go whole hog WWW then I like Wyatt Wilfred Williams

twolittlebears · 28/09/2020 20:06

Great name. Use it op

bleachblondemom · 28/09/2020 20:01

@1starwars2 Woody is a cool name but when you say Woody and then start to say W again it sounds like it’s gonna be woody woodpecker 😆
