Marmite133 · 25/09/2020 18:36

I work in a large school and over 7 years (over 600+ kids!) only 2. Both now secondary age. 1 was South African/Italian, the other English.
Lovely name.

More than I can count, all ages.. it's Luka here (central European country) very popular, very lovely name. And they are always nice people!

TulipsandDa1s1es · 25/09/2020 18:07

2, both aged 9 and both very challenging and spirited.

VampireBill · 25/09/2020 17:55

One, mid teens, mother an ER fan 😂

jessstan2 · 25/09/2020 17:52

None. I don't like the name, prefer Luke but both names come from the Latin 'Lucas'. Quite like Lucas actually. 'Luca' makes me think of 'lucre'.

CalmConfident · 25/09/2020 17:48

Loads, but then I live in Italy. It’s the Jack/Steve/Whatever name is top of the charts in the U.K. equivalent as it’s so ubiquitous. It transcends generations, I know several, from 60yo Lucas all the way down the generations to a 6 yo one. It used to be if you called out Luca in a bar or a classroom loads of men/boys would answer.

It does seem to be dying down a bit, in the last few years there have been fewer. Or maybe I just frequent fewer children.

Anyway, nothing particularly wrong with it, it’s just a rather dull name. I’ve noticed the upsurge in popularity in the UK, I’ve not seen the attraction but I suppose to non-Italian ears it sounds exotic.

Mind you, in Italy Kevin became popular for a while, as did Brian (in a variety of spellings) so what do we know?

tiggy20 · 25/09/2020 17:33

Two - one aged 12 (Italian dad) and one aged 7

FeedMeSantiago · 25/09/2020 17:28

1 aged about 10, his grandparents are Italian and his mother wanted an Italian name which is easy to pronounce in the UK.
