Names for our little boy!

MummyShark97 · 18/09/2020 13:15

We're so stuck with names for our little one!

Definitely into more unusual names and this is what we're considering so far:

Nico
Astro
Otis
Bryson
Grey
Remy

Tend to prefer shorter names as you can see, welcome thoughts and ideas!

Thanks for all the thoughts!

I did think Astro turf myself when DH first mentioned it but it's grown on me a lot. I do think kids are capable of making up a name for just about anyone though!

A lot of love for Nico! I really like it's just DH who is less keen.

Arlo is nice and I like Amos too and Miles!!

I have a feeling we won't set a name till he's here and we see what suits him!!

Love nico and bryson. But would go for bryson personally myself.

FizzyGreenWater · 21/09/2020 18:57

Astro = astroturf - don't do it, also because the inevitable (and only!) short form is Ass!!!

Nico and Otis are both fab strong names. Otis definitely more popular though. I'd go for Nico

ChnandlerBong · 21/09/2020 16:37

Not Astro. He'll just get called Astroturf

Milo
Ivo
Arlo
Luca

PinkJellycat · 21/09/2020 08:29

I love Remy and Nico.

Bryson sounds like a surname to me.

Agree Astro is too similar to Astro turf. Asher or Ashwin could be good alternatives?

Marmite133 · 21/09/2020 07:52

I think now that most high schools have an astro turf there will be a weird association. When astro turf was more unusual it wouldn't have been an issue. But kids can be mean.

Robs20 · 20/09/2020 22:29

Love Nico! I have a 4 month old Otis and know of 2 other babies with the same name. It seems to be getting really popular.

VenusClapTrap · 20/09/2020 22:21

I really like Nico.

How about Gene?

BikeRunSki · 19/09/2020 22:09

Jed
Rex
Otto
Alec

Of your list, I like Otis

Dawnlassie · 19/09/2020 22:02

On second thoughts Astro is a great name.

Quite like Remy although I don’t think I’d chose it myself. I like Miles more, Guy and Louis.

Cecelori · 19/09/2020 02:24

Oh there was a smurf called Astro too (a spaceman smurf).

Basically it's a tropey name for cartoon characters in outer-space settings.

BeaverTail · 18/09/2020 22:37

I like all of them except Astro (which I associate with a space-whale from an obscure Pinocchio sequel, the dog from the Jetsons and the Astro Boy franchise).

AdelaidePlace · 18/09/2020 21:21

Like Otis from your list.

Also ( read that back and thought I'd suggested 'Also' as a name😂)
Otto
Leo
Felix
Art
Luca

Wonder how many 2020 mumsnet DS's will be named 'Also'😂

I'm not keen on Bryson but love the rest. Especially Astro and Nico.

What about:
Atlas, Orion, Jesse, Sol, Saul, Digby, Rex, Osian, Caspian.

Firebird83 · 18/09/2020 14:19

Astro just makes me think of Astro turf

I like Nico, Otis and Remy

@LuckyFlash Ouh I'm glad you said about Astro as it's probably the one we've agreed on most but also the most unusual so feels a little daunting to go with it!

@FluffyEggsontoast I love Axel and Cole too!
