This is the front runner for DS2 currently with DH - I like the nicknames Rick, Ricky, Rich, Richie too. I do think it seems a little grown up for a baby, however I think as he will grow up a bit - I see it as a lovely name for a man. What do people think? Thank you

Yes, excellent choice.

@MercyBodle

I've always loved it. I would love to meet a little Richard!
Here’s a Little Richard! 🤣

I've always loved it. I would love to meet a little Richard!

BeMorePacific · 18/09/2020 12:49

I know a baby called Richard. I do find it strange, as it’s definitely a grown up name. But he won’t be a baby for long.
If you love it go for it xx

Dreamcatcher34 · 18/09/2020 12:49

I think it’s very dated.

CurtainWitcher · 18/09/2020 12:29

Awful name!

Richard is Hyacinth Bucket's drippy husband.
Ricky is Bianca EastEnders' drippy husband.
And then we have Dick.

Horrible name.

GnomeoNameo · 18/09/2020 12:24

Fantastic underused name, and deserves a comeback.
No-one would know the connection with Dick these days, certainly not children.

I know two Richards, and they were lovely as children and not teased for their name.

FeedMeSantiago · 18/09/2020 08:29

I like Richard - surname dependent. I knew a Richard Everard at school who was forever known as Dick Ever Hard.

All the Richard's I know are in their late 20s or 30s. Most go by Richard with one preferring Rich and one is known as a nickname derived from his surname, think Richard James known as Jim.

I think Richard as a full name is nicer than any of the nicknames arising from the name.

brushandmop · 18/09/2020 05:55

Excellent name;
I hope you choose it

Topseyt · 18/09/2020 02:27

I like it. Good, strong and traditional name.

DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2020 23:14

It's nice, a good, strong underused classic.

LadyGAgain · 17/09/2020 23:14

In my experience Richard is Rich. Lovely name.

SweptOutOfAPigeonLoft · 17/09/2020 23:12

@Firebird83 it’s important to recognise they are only babies for such a small part of their life.

I love it, especially Dicky!

VenusClapTrap · 17/09/2020 22:49

I love it. It was on my shortlist for ds.

frogswimming · 17/09/2020 22:42

Great name!!!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/09/2020 22:30

I love it. My nephew is a Richard (known as Richie) I often call him Richard though. It’s.a name that’s gone back generations on his dads side.

WiserOlder · 17/09/2020 22:30

I like it. Love Richie. Often wondered why parents of Archie didn't pick Richie instead

Oly4 · 17/09/2020 22:28

Gosh no, it’s dreadful, sorry

Auto · 17/09/2020 22:28

Richard is a classic due a comeback. It's a good solid royal name. Rich is fine as a nickname. No-one will even think of calling him 'Dick' because for obvious reasons no-one under a certain age is called that any more.

daisypond · 17/09/2020 22:25

Baby Richard?! It doesn't conjure up the cutest image!
Exactly. That’s why it’s a good name. Cute is not a good thing!

Firebird83 · 17/09/2020 22:24

I know a toddler Richie. Its really cute on him. Richard is an underused classic that deserves a comeback!

cactusdog · 17/09/2020 22:19

In fact the more I think about this the sadder I am that I won't get to use it 😢
Imagine a little toddler called Richard 😍

cactusdog · 17/09/2020 22:18

I love it. Nearly chose it for DS2. It's also DB's name. Honestly sort of regret not using it.
DB is always Richard or Rich/Richie

Cauterize · 17/09/2020 22:02

No I'm sorry, it's really dated. Baby Richard?! It doesn't conjure up the cutest image!
