Eloise?

Hi, both me and DH like Eloise - seems very classy and elegant yet not relatively common. What do people think of it? Our other DD is Josephine Iris (nn Josie) and are using Charlotte for the middle name of DD2. Thank you

I like it. I also like Elodie and Elise. All very pretty names to me and not overused.

Firebird83 · 16/09/2020 22:10

I’m not keen. Louisa is much nicer.

anxiousanna75 · 16/09/2020 22:09

I love it. I remember a kids Australian TV drama in the early 90's about a girl called Eloise, but can't for the life of me remember what it was called. That was the first time I heard the name. I've met a few since and always liked the name.

Ellmau · 16/09/2020 22:08

Very nice. Or you could have Eloisa.

ellieboulou33 · 16/09/2020 21:30

Louisa is much nicer, but I am biased Smile

BingeOnChocolate · 16/09/2020 21:20

I've always loved the name. Unfortunately my mum is Louise so it's ruled out for me to use

ChelseeDagger · 16/09/2020 21:19

I want to like it but to my admittedly anglicised ears it sounds like a portmanteau of Eleanor and Louise. Although, my next door neighbour has a fourteen year old named Eloise though and she is a lovely girl.
Hmmm meh, its ok all things considered.

Oh! Have you considered Sylvie? Same vein but much better imho.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 16/09/2020 21:19

My best friend's daughter is Eloise, known as Ellie, lovely name x

JamieLeeCurtains · 16/09/2020 21:19

I love it.

frustrationcentral · 16/09/2020 21:18

I don't like it, caused by a child a couple of years below DS1 - her mum used to bellow it across the playground every bloody morning. Put me right off 😂

JustanotherTuesday · 16/09/2020 21:18

I think it's a lovely name and a brilliant song .

Candycats · 16/09/2020 21:18

I love it and your other daughter's name is beautiful too, great choices!

Cissyandflora · 16/09/2020 21:18

@BlueDream

I only don't like it because a slag at uni called Eloise shagged everyone's boyfriends, giving the last of them crabs. Confused
So did she catch crabs from the second from last one?
MagnoliatheMagnificent · 16/09/2020 21:16

One of my favourites. I love Josephine too - it's my Mums name and Dd's middle name.

purpleme12 · 16/09/2020 21:16

Lovely story!

nevergoingoutagain · 16/09/2020 21:14

I like it. I also have a Josephine and I think it goes very well. It's not that common either which would tick my main box!

BluebellsareBlue · 16/09/2020 21:12

It's beautiful x

MintCassis · 16/09/2020 21:11

Love it! I always think of the Eloise children’s books 🙂

purpleme12 · 16/09/2020 21:09

Eloise is the best name 🥰

Topseyt · 16/09/2020 21:06

I love Eloise. I find it elegant, classy and timeless.

Disfordarkchocolate · 16/09/2020 21:05

I think is extremely lovely. Great song too.

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 16/09/2020 21:05

Also Heloise is nice and even more unusual, and a great nod French literature if that is your bag (although would probably always still be spelled Eloise or Elouise).

Onekidnoclue · 16/09/2020 21:04

Oh I love it. Not common but not weird. Great name.

MikeUniformMike · 16/09/2020 21:02

It's ok. I prefer Louise and Louisa. The song puts me off.
It's yet another Ellie type name.
