Is Denham too out there?

Currently pregnant with baby #7 🤭
We aren't sure of the gender yet but Dennis is also on our boys list. I really like the nickname Denny but I feel like Dennis is too harsh and doesn't go with our last name. DH had a friend is school called Denham and I have mixed feelings about it. Opinions and suggestions appreciated!

Denny is a wee town outside Falkirk, please don’t 🤣

Sarahbeans · 12/09/2020 13:28

My first thought was the IT crowd too!

RemyHadley · 12/09/2020 13:28

I think I’d always hear that as Denim tbh.

What about a name that ends in “den”? Gives you more options. Eg Caden, Aiden, Holden etc.

mum2jakie · 12/09/2020 13:28

I would go with Denholm but pronounced in the same way. It's unusual but an actual established boy's name

Ah I could use Denholm, is it pronounced Den-am?

I was thinking of pronouncing it Den-am but I agree it can be heard Denim. I do like the name Denny though.

Slightly different spelling but reminds me of Denholm Reynholm from the IT Crowd Grin. But, actually, joking apart I think it’s quite nice, different and not too out there. There was an actor, also spelt Denholm (Elliot) so maybe that spelling is more usual.

BaronessBomburst · 12/09/2020 13:24

No.
Depending on how you pronounce it, it will either be denim, or a place name.

IckleBear · 12/09/2020 13:24

I read it as Debenhams

NannyR · 12/09/2020 13:24

It might be misheard as Denim often.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 12/09/2020 13:23

You’d be saying Denham, but 99% of people will hear Denim.

RunningFromInsanity · 12/09/2020 13:23

Awful.

iklboo · 12/09/2020 13:22

As in Denham Elliott the actor (gimmer so first thing I thought of)? Though I think he was Denholm.

hypochondriaceveywhere · 12/09/2020 13:22

Definitely not. Just use the name Denny.

Hmm
