Really like the name Jaya for our little girl. Would be pronounced "jay-a".

Thoughts?

I don’t like it I’m afraid.

NotGenerationAlpha · 11/09/2020 15:16

It's an Indian name isn't it? I know a Jaya but they are Indians.

AnnaSW1 · 11/09/2020 15:13

I don't like it, butif you love it you should use it

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 11/09/2020 15:11

I find your Jay-a pronunciation a slight mouthful. It's not dreadful, but there are plenty of nicer choices.

What style of names do you like?

user58 · 11/09/2020 14:48

@SpearmintPeppermint it would be to rhyme with hay-a... why does it seem odd?

Thanks for the feedback anyway, seems like no one likes it so far which is disappointing... but I'd love to hear more opinions.

Do you have Indian heritage? I'm assuming not, given the proposed pronunciation.

I like it when it's pronounced to rhyme with hiya, but personally, I would avoid if it isn't your heritage.

MikeUniformMike · 11/09/2020 14:41

No.

cosmo30 · 11/09/2020 14:41

It's different! But kinda reminds me of maya jama 🤔

SpearmintPeppermint · 11/09/2020 14:41

I don’t quite understand your pronunciation - do you mean it would rhyme with hay-a or hiya?

I went to school with a Jaya that rhymed with hiya and thought it was a lovely name.

Rhyming with hay-a seems odd.

Awful.
