Full name for Ron

Viletta · 07/09/2020 02:14

Hi there, we've settled on Ron (Rony, Ronnie) as the name for our son but I want a full name. He'll be British/Slavic/Greek origin.
So far I've got
Ronald (Mc Donald?)
Ronan (too Irish?)
Myron (rhymes with Moron?)
Cameron (meh)
Roland (like the name but don't think it can be shorten to Ron)

I don't want to use Ron as a full name as culturally in Slavic countries you should have a full name. Any thoughts and ideas would be massively appreciated. Thank you!

Taron

SingingInTheShithouse · 11/09/2020 12:00

Definitely Auberon, I'd forgotten that's my American friends adult sons name & he goes by Ron/Ronni

SingingInTheShithouse · 11/09/2020 11:58

I know a Rohan who went by Ron when he was younger, uses Rohan now

Sportsnight · 11/09/2020 11:34

Oberon is quite nice.

TinyMetalBirds · 11/09/2020 11:30

My child is unaware of the first name of the original owner of McDonalds

Which was Richard. Or Maurice. They were brothers. Mrs McDonald would have to have been pretty cruel or tone deaf to name her son Ronald Grin
Ronald McDonald is the clown. You don't see him so much any more do you? There was always one hanging around our McDonalds in the 80s giving out balloons.

TenThousandSpoons · 11/09/2020 11:25

Definitely Chevron

Ron1984 · 11/09/2020 10:22

I’m biased!

Ellmau · 11/09/2020 10:21

Oh! Just thought of one that works - Auberon.

Ellmau · 11/09/2020 10:18

You can have Ronal rather than Ronald.

Taron as in the actor Egerton? Most other names ending -ron are pronounced with the syllable more abbreviated so using that as the nn feels more forced.

Gurufloof · 10/09/2020 20:24

Debron or lebron?

Btw I just googled names with Ron in them. 830 on one site.

Gurufloof · 10/09/2020 20:23

Bronson, various spellings
Darron, also various spellings

Gurufloof · 10/09/2020 20:21

Adron not baron!,,

Gurufloof · 10/09/2020 20:21

Baron? No idea how its pronounced.
Byron?

Gurufloof · 10/09/2020 20:19

Veronica ivy, good strong manly name that.

CatsArePeopleToo · 10/09/2020 20:16

Ronald. Classic international name. Just Ron is also pretty cool.

Viletta · 07/09/2020 15:20

Thanks everyone for your nice replies! In Slavic languages we use respectful version of "you" for adult strangers and short name like Ronnie or Ron would not sounds good with it, it demands a full name, especially as he won't have a patronym. We could use Ron, but I'd like to experiment my options.

What would you do with Ivy, it’s only 3 letters but an entire name - how would you get round that?

Vee

(You can search babynamefinder by suffix)

WitsEnding · 07/09/2020 14:24

I wonder if Vernon would work ... it’s sort of the same sound. (Came on to say Veronica, but obviously not)

DeeTractor · 07/09/2020 14:21

My grandfather/uncle/cousin are all called Roland, but known as Ronnie.

RobinRose · 07/09/2020 14:18

Theron
Ronan
Auberon
Efron
Taron
Warron

Wheresthebiffer2 · 07/09/2020 14:16

Ronald
My child is unaware of the first name of the original owner of McDonalds, so there is absolutely no association for her (or me, or her friends) of Ron or Ronald with the burger and chips franchise.

Use Ronald.
