What do you think of the following names? Or any others you think i might like based on this shortlist?
DH likes most of these but doesn't think we've found the one yet.

Astrid
Romilly
Camilla (DH thinks too associated with Parker-Bowles)
Flora
Zara
Cara

Nice list!
Astrid - I'm not keen on this one. For some reason I find it a bit harsh
Romilly - also not keen on this one, the ones I've met have been very rough so that probably puts me off unfairly
Camilla - love this, I don't think it's too Parker-Bowles personally
Flora - like a lot
Zara - like a lot
Cara - love this one too.

How about:
Miranda
Meredith
Cordelia
Cecilia
Cecily
Tabitha
Susannah
Rowena
Clarissa

which I think have a similar feel?

Indigo89 · 06/09/2020 21:32

@PeaceAndHarmoneeee

I like them all apart from Flora.

How about
Cora
Celeste
Clara
Nina
Annaliese
Stella
Naomi

Yes I really like Stella (and Estelle). DD1 is Annaliese. I like Nina but DH is a police officer so the "Nee-naw" connection might be too amusing.

Romilly is my favourite from your list.

danascully96 · 06/09/2020 19:00

I suggest Clara as it would be the best if on you're list :)

Onestepup · 06/09/2020 09:45

Astrid - harsh unless spoken in a Scandinavian accent with a soft d
Romilly - OK
Camilla - like
Flora - not keen
Zara - love
Cara - love

Lucy

Romilly is the only one I really don't like. I have to admit to not understanding its popularity.

Cara is my stand-out favourite. Simple, classy, elegant, sweet, nice meaning, international, travels well, suits any age.

ReeseWitherfork · 06/09/2020 09:06

I’m obsessed with the name Astrid at the moment. Since I heard it in a TV show. It’s really lovely and it means something like “divinely beautiful”.

I don’t personally like the other 5. But not awful names.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 06/09/2020 09:03

I like them all apart from Flora.

How about
Cora
Celeste
Clara
Nina
Annaliese
Stella
Naomi

Marlena1 · 06/09/2020 08:50

Romilly - lovely shortened to Romy
Zara - lovely
Cara - lovely

I also like Lara and Clara

pinkpinecone · 06/09/2020 08:45

Astrid - not keen, I I used to like this name then went off it because of the Ass sound
Romilly - nice! Especially when shortened to Romy
Camilla (DH thinks too associated with Parker-Bowles) - it's a nice name but the association with CPB is strong!
Flora - Gut bacteria
Zara - Cheap clothes
Cara - Nice but prefer Clara

A few more you may like

Claudia
Valentina
Matilda
Juniper
Rosa
Lara

Astronica · 06/09/2020 07:44

I like all of those. My favourites are Camilla and Flora.

Enough4me · 06/09/2020 00:06

I like Flora, Flo for short. Zara and Astrid lovely too.

Tillygetsit · 06/09/2020 00:04

Romilly is my favourite of those. Camilla is pretty but CPB puts me off too.
Camille?

Firebird83 · 05/09/2020 23:12

Flora is lovely

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2020 17:12

Astrid - not with an E middle name o surname
Romilly - dislike, sounds like a wartime general or someone historical
Camilla (DH thinks too associated with Parker-Bowles) - will be Cam
Flora - lovely
Zara - lovely but makes me think of the shop
Cara - nice

Astrid would be my favourite but I think it is getting popular.
I've always liked Flora, so I'd go with that.

Zara and Cara are both great but not keen on Milly type nn.

EhUp · 05/09/2020 16:25

I like Flora and Zara best

Agree with your DH about Camilla, which is a shame because its a nice name, the other thing that would put me off is it will likely get shortened to Millie which has been overused massively in the last 20 odd years

I like Cara but seems like Cara/Clara/Lara all very popular currently (I haven't heard of any little Zaras though!)

Not keen on Romilly. Prefer Romala which has a similar vibe

MarshaBradyo · 05/09/2020 16:19

I like Camilla

BeMorePacific · 05/09/2020 16:18

I love Flora. A strong and beautiful name.
Look up Flora MacDonald for a kickass example of a Flora.
I love the NN Florrie too x

zigaziga · 05/09/2020 16:17

I’ve always loved the name Camilla.

twirlywooly · 05/09/2020 16:03

Astrid - Not keen bit nothing wrong with it.
Romilly - As above.
Camilla (DH thinks too associated with Parker-Bowles) - Nice but agree with your OH.
Flora - Love
Zara - Nice
Cara - Nice

TheChristmasPrincess · 05/09/2020 15:48

Astrid - not a fan because of the strong 'Ass' sound to it, very clunky looking and sounding (3)
Romilly - I prefer either Romy or Millie, not keen on this name in itself (3)
Camilla - I actually like Camilla, it's very elegant and feminine. If you're worried about the Parker-Bowles reference you can always use Millie as nickname (7)
Flora - very sweet & pretty, maybe a little too frilly for my taste but it's a lovely name (7)
Zara - I love this name, I think it's really spunky, but it does make me think of the clothes shop (7)
Cara - a little meh, nice enough but a little simplistic (5)

mylittleavalon · 05/09/2020 15:42

I know a Camilla who is always Millie- this is a popular name so I don't know if that bothers you. I love Cara and Zara. Could suggest
Carlotta,
Cassia,
Fleur,
Thalia,
Sasha based on your list xx

TenThousandSpoons · 05/09/2020 15:39

I like all of them. I think my favourite is Zara.
How about Sadie?

Indigo89 · 05/09/2020 15:23

@Awrite

Especially as she'll be Queen soon.
Yes, I suppose so. I don't have an opinion on Camilla P-B but DH's grandma is a staunch royalist, loved Diana and thinks Camilla is the devil incarnate.
