Lyra Antarctica

Is what Ed Sheeran has called his first child.

I am not a fan of celeb names usually but I really like this. Lyra is unusual but not weird, easy to spell and would suit women of all ages.

Antarctica is indeed a bit unusual but I think you can get away with a more unusual choice for a middle name.

Great choice Ed and Cherry. Kardashians and rappers take note.

Lyra 'my mum and Dad had a shag here'. I can see why parents might like this but it's actually quite a horrible thing to do to a child.

ArdenBlue · 01/09/2020 18:30

Lyra is lovely
Of course they were going to have an out there middle name.

ThatDamnScientist · 01/09/2020 18:29

Lyra is indeed a beautiful name (I love 'His Dark Materials').

Antarctica is a strange choice but each to their own.

I love Lyra! It's nice and unusual. But I don't like Antartica. Glad it's the middle name...

zaphodbeeble · 01/09/2020 18:26

They were apparently in Antarctica 9 months ago !

RandomTree · 01/09/2020 18:26

I like Lyra a lot. Not sure about Antarctica.

My dog is called Lyra (All the pets I've named have star/constellation names). I like it.

SockYarn · 01/09/2020 17:06

Seaborn is her mother's surname no? All my kids have surnames as a middle name?

Lyra reminds me more of Lyric, which is apt given her dad's job.

It's the rest of the name ixmbined that makes it a bit too ott imho...

"Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran"

Antarctica and Seaborn is just too descriptive together. Plus Lyra just reminds me of Lycra unfortunately 🤷‍♀️

I really love it

I was literally just talking about this to DH. I like it. As you say, Antarctica is unusual, but DD and I both have placename-middle names, so why not?
