Lyra Antarctica

Is what Ed Sheeran has called his first child.

I am not a fan of celeb names usually but I really like this. Lyra is unusual but not weird, easy to spell and would suit women of all ages.

Antarctica is indeed a bit unusual but I think you can get away with a more unusual choice for a middle name.

Great choice Ed and Cherry. Kardashians and rappers take note.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
megletthesecond · 02/09/2020 07:11

I quite like it.
Now shallowly looking forward to the Hadid-Malik baby name when it arrives Blush.

Cauterize · 02/09/2020 07:09

Lyra is a lovely name. As for Antarctica........Confused

missmouse101 · 02/09/2020 07:01

Lyra is dreadful, it looks like lycra and sounds similar to liar.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 01/09/2020 22:55

Lyra is massively increasing in popularity, up to 142nd most popular from zero.

Lyra Antarctica
polkadotpixie · 01/09/2020 22:38

I love Lyra, hope it doesn't get too popular now as I was considering it for DC2 if we have a girl next time

Dozer · 01/09/2020 22:20

Lyra Seaborn would be a great name!

Names referencing the location of conception: naff and embarrassing for the DC.

BlacklashStarts · 01/09/2020 22:15

Lyra is pretty. Antarctica is attention seeking nonsense.

pandora206 · 01/09/2020 22:12

Lyra went North in His Dark Materials not South. Great book, interesting name but Antarctica just no!

Parkandride · 01/09/2020 22:08

It's a great celeb baby name, thumbs up

CarolVordermansArse · 01/09/2020 19:32

I hadn't seen this in the news. Just saw it in trending and thought it was a cruise company Grin.

thesquirrelsnuts · 01/09/2020 19:32

Lyra's nice but I have to admit I LOL'ed at Antarctica!

Topseyt · 01/09/2020 19:30

Was she conceived in Antarctica?

SunbathingDragon · 01/09/2020 19:27

I would like Antarctica a lot more without knowing Ed and Cherry were there nine months ago!

Pipandmum · 01/09/2020 19:21

I know three young kids called Lyra. Must be getting up there in the charts.

RunningFromInsanity · 01/09/2020 19:19

Lyra is pronounce lie-rah in the books.
I really like it.
And as for the middle name, no one actually uses it anyway.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/09/2020 19:17

@Autumnsloth

I assumed that it was Antarctica for Lyra's (in the dark materials) obsession with Antarctica...... I see I was wrong! Like it a lot less now.
Wrong pole? (Unless I'm misremembering)
MidnightCitrus · 01/09/2020 19:13

@Meredusoleil

It's the rest of the name ixmbined that makes it a bit too ott imho...

"Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran"

Antarctica and Seaborn is just too descriptive together. Plus Lyra just reminds me of Lycra unfortunately 🤷‍♀️

sounds like a brand of wellies....

Lyra, i think that was from the Phillip Pullman Northern Lights books

JamieLeeCurtains · 01/09/2020 19:11

Each to their own I guess.

Is the baby a social influencer yet?

LottieDot · 01/09/2020 19:11

Love Lyra and I love His Dark Materials! Im actually disappointed as I feel like I couldn't use Lyra now 😆

chillied · 01/09/2020 19:09

I came on the thread to say no OP don't call your child this!

Never mind. Lyra is great. Antarctica omg

Magicbabywaves · 01/09/2020 19:03

Lyra, Layla, Lola, it’s the new Eve, Evie, Elsie/Maya, Mia,

Autumnsloth · 01/09/2020 19:00

nitgel · 01/09/2020 18:59

\link{\antarctica!}

CharismaticVic · 01/09/2020 18:54

Lyra is from His Dark Materials. I dont like the name because of the sadness the trilogy evokes and I think Antarctica is just weird.

LemonyFace · 01/09/2020 18:43

How do you pronounce pronounce Lyra? Lee-ra? Lie-ra? Lir-a?
