Girl: Melody Belle
Boy: Jaxon Samuel

Thanks!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Geranium01 · 01/09/2020 16:58

"Melody Belle" makes me assume that it is most important to you that your child is pretty, as opposed to funny, kind, clever, adventurous etc - Belle in particular is twee but paired up they are quite awful!

Jaxon Samuel is ok! Agree with PPs that constantly correcting the spelling could become quite annoying though

tornadoalley · 01/09/2020 16:57

Sickly
Misspelt

Jellyeggs · 01/09/2020 16:53

Sorry I agree with others about Jaxon. He sounds like the naughty kid that no one wants their kid sitting next to. I like the other names though. Melody is gorgeous.

snowgirl1 · 01/09/2020 16:50

Don't like Jaxon at all.
Melody is okay. Belle is okay - but together they sound really twee.

Bloomburger · 01/09/2020 16:48

Mind you you've got to be sure you're not going to have a kid that resembles a gargoyle if you call it Belle too!

cptartapp · 01/09/2020 16:47

Samuel is nice.

Bloomburger · 01/09/2020 16:47

Belle and Samual lovely, Melody twee and Jaxon, by god Jackson as a first name is bad enough, why in Gods name make it even worse by making the poor kid have to remind everybody that his name isn't spelt the usual way a hundred thousand times during his life.

itssquidstella · 01/09/2020 16:44

Jaxon is awful but Jackson is fine.

joystir59 · 01/09/2020 16:43

Melody Belle- Bible belt hooker
Jaxon- cleaning product

SilentBob · 01/09/2020 16:42

Jaxon (or Jackson) Samuel just shouts Samuel L Jackson to me.

MrsSpookyM · 01/09/2020 16:41

Samuel and Belle are nice.

I'm indifferent to Melody. It's a bit wet.

Hate Jaxon. It seems like one of those "I'm trying to be funky and interesting" names, but now they're ten a penny it just looks like a misspelling.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 01/09/2020 16:41

I really like Samuel.... really dislike the others. Sorry OP. Although, actually I can see Melody being sweet.
Jaxon - especially that spelling is a hard nope.

VacMan · 01/09/2020 16:39

Melody and Jackson are lovely.

Jaxon is really bad.

latticechaos · 01/09/2020 16:39

@passthemustard

No to Melody and Jaxon. Yes to Belle and Samuel Sorry
Same from me
thecognoscenti · 01/09/2020 16:36

Samuel is nice. Jackson (not Jaxon) is ok. Melody is quite nice. Belle is a bit twee and Melody Belle is really quite saccharine. Remember you aren't just naming a little baby or a toddler, you're naming a twenty something and a middle aged woman and maybe an old lady.

ellenpartridge · 01/09/2020 16:31

I like Samuel not keen on the rest

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 01/09/2020 16:24

Melody - lovely. Belle - fine for a middle name or nn. They don't work together though due to the repeated 'el' sound. Together they also sound like a musical instrument. 'Were you playing the tubular bells? No, they're actually melody bells'.

Jaxon - as plenty of pps have said, the x spelling isn't good. Jackson isn't to my taste but there's nothing wrong with it as a name and it works well with Samuel.

Samuel is lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 01/09/2020 16:19

Yes to Melody and Samuel.

No to the others.

Melody Belle really doesn't work and I don't like the spelling of Jaxon.

NameChange84 · 01/09/2020 16:15

Hate Jaxon with a PASSION. It’s awful. Jackson is fine. Samuel is lovely.

Melody Belle sounds like a Steamship from turn of the Century Mississippi. Like Liberty Belle.

Melody is ok. Belle is ok. Together it’s a no from me.

mothertoteens · 01/09/2020 16:11

I like Melody & Belle but not together. I like Jackson Samuel but Jaxon looks silly to me.

Sausagedog1 · 01/09/2020 16:04

I love Melody Belle but dislike Jaxon.
I knew a Melody that was shortened to Melo, she was a very cool boho type.
If you love the name Jaxon though don't ask Mumsnet as it isn't the type of name that is popular on here. Lots of people obviously like it though, choose what you love.

mummy2myJJ · 01/09/2020 15:52

I loooove Jaxon, is on my list for DC2! Melody is okay, not my cup of tea but it's not dreadful 😘 x

Trisolaris · 01/09/2020 15:35

Oh and yes to Samuel

Trisolaris · 01/09/2020 15:34

Dislike Jaxon with an X, it seems very much a name that will date badly. Jackson though is nice.

Love Melody, Belle always seems to me for parents that value looks over other qualities in their daughters

(You did ask for honesty!)

minnieok · 01/09/2020 15:34

I would suggest that you choose a traditional name for your girls name as well as a more unusual (like with the male option) gives the child options as they grow up, jaxon in particular is a bit marmite, the gary or Sharon of their generation potentially, give them the option of a timeless classic for cvs
