I'm Scottish but living in England. I would prefer a Scottish name. DS1 is Rory.....I didnt choose Gaelic spelling so that people would be able to pronounce it!
What do you think of these names and smy other suggestions?

Fergus
Magnus
Lachlan
Gregor
Alistair
Callen

Angus
Douglas
Hamish
Hector ( is it Scottish?)

mintich · 30/08/2020 19:11

I'm adding Duncan to the list! I like Hamish too but our surname begins with H so not sure about that!

I like Callen the best :) Rory and Callen sound sweet together!

I don’t like Magnus at all, but I may be biased as someone I dislike named their son Magnus 😂

mintich · 30/08/2020 14:24

I've just had a friend point put that as out surname sounds quite Scandinavian (but isn't) Magnus may not be great as theyll be getting asked if they are Scandinavian!

My grandparents are Scottish and I can hardly think of any Scottish names (they both have English
sounding names) but I change my mind on Alistair, I actually really like it. Good luck.

Unseeliequeen · 30/08/2020 11:50

Fergus - 50/50
Magnus - yes
Lachlan - 50/50
Gregor - no
Alistair - 50/50
Callen - no

MikeUniformMike · 30/08/2020 11:46

Fergus - great
Magnus - great but will be Mags
Lachlan - fine, but will be Lacklun
Gregor - not my taste but ok
Alistair - great but may be misspelt and said as Ali-stair
Callen - not seen it before, not sure

Fraser is nice.

VenusClapTrap · 30/08/2020 11:29

Love Magnus and Fergus.
I know a little Callan and he spends his life saying “no not Callum” so I’d avoid that.

ThighthighOfthigh · 29/08/2020 21:36

Duncan is fantastic

TFSRM · 29/08/2020 21:30

Angus

Viewfromtheisland · 29/08/2020 21:24

A vote for Gregor here.

ellenpartridge · 29/08/2020 21:18

I like them, favourite is Alistair. Was also going to suggest Innes and Hamish but see others have beaten me to it!

Oneandabean · 29/08/2020 21:17

Definitely fergus. I love it but have no Scottish heritage otherwise I’d use it.

namenerd · 29/08/2020 21:16

I love Callen- so unique and handsome! 😍

What about Angus, Blaine or Conan?

user1493494961 · 29/08/2020 21:13

I really like Hamish and Angus. Not keen on Callen. What about Fraser.

Echobelly · 29/08/2020 21:10

I like all of those a lot. Angus is a pretty cool name - I have one friend with an Angus, reflecting dad's family's Scottish origins.

moonriver32 · 29/08/2020 21:10

Hamish also lovely as a PP suggested!

Fundayfunday · 29/08/2020 21:09

I love Lachlan -its a strong, solid name imo. Gregor is lovely too!

I'm not a fan of Fergus or Magnus tbh.

Some suggestions are :
Brodie
Donal
Conall
Niall
Eoin

SabrinaThwaite · 29/08/2020 21:09

Callen isn’t a name I’ve come across before (Caolán or Cailean maybe?), otherwise I like all your names. I’d add:

Innes
Calum
Euan
Angus
Cameron
Niall
Conall

twirlywooly · 29/08/2020 21:09

Fergus, Alastair or Magnus. Not keen on the others.

Other suggestions:
Cameron
Harris
Jamie
Angus
Hamish
Duncan
Euan/Ewen
Rowan
Malcolm

ThighthighOfthigh · 29/08/2020 21:08

How about Maxwell?

And Bruce

RandomTree · 29/08/2020 21:06
