Mine is fairly common.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KeeefBurtain · 28/08/2020 10:22

@17caterpillars1mouse it does!

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2020 10:13

Sorry above message was to @KeeefBurtain

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2020 10:12

I think my dd2 may have the same name as your youngest. Does it begin with an E

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2020 10:09

Uncommon though dd2's name is mentioned fairly often on here

40 oh dd2's name borm in 2019 in England and Wales statistics and 7 of dd1's name, yet I've met a same aged child with dd1's child but not dd2

Enko · 28/08/2020 10:05

Dd1 common just outside top 20
Dd2 very uncommon only 7 babies named this last year she is 20 and that is the highest I've seen it usually 3 or 4
Ds uncommon in the 1000s however very well known name bit of a marmite name i find i think there was 23 called his name last year
Dd3 uncommon but has steadily risen over the years now just inside top 200

GreenPlum · 28/08/2020 10:03

Just checked the Top 100 list. DD and DS both in the 30s.

Yellowcar2 · 28/08/2020 09:58

DS1 no longer top 100 but has been in the past. DD1 around top 20 to 30. DD2 never in top 100 but not weird if that makes sense.

DemiFrancaise · 28/08/2020 09:57

DD - very uncommon. only 82 people born with her name in the same year.

DS - common. Ranked 64th most popular name in his year of birth.

pontiouspilates · 28/08/2020 09:54

One of each.

KeeefBurtain · 28/08/2020 09:51

Dd1 her name is super common as in top 3. Wasn’t in 2003 when I had her.
Ds1 his name hovers around the 60s in the ons but was in the 300s when I had him in 2005.
Ds2 his is very uncommon but I’ve seen lots of people suggest it lately on here.
Dd2 also very uncommon, also suggested a lot lately, particularly on Scottish name threads. The shortening of her name is edging into the top 20 though.

MinnieMousse · 28/08/2020 09:46

My DDs names were top 20 when they were born, both been top 10 for the past few years. Doesn't bother me or them. They've never had anyone in with the same name in their class. DD1 is the only one in her school and DD2 is one of two in the school. I think even common names now have a much lower frequency than when I was young as there seems a much wider range of names that people choose from.

20viona · 28/08/2020 09:45

Uncommon. Not too 'out there' but not too 200. But it's a name everyone has heard of. 😂

TokyoSushi · 28/08/2020 09:42

Both of mine are extremely common, especially DD! The way I look at it is they are common because lots of people like the names, doesn't bother me at all.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 28/08/2020 09:41

DS has a very common name. He was named after my granddad, and then suddenly lots of other babies around his age were named the same. I hadn't even looked at baby names, I knew what he was going to be called right from the start, so the popularity came as a bit of a surprise.

RowboatsinDisguise · 28/08/2020 09:38

DS - fairly uncommon but top 150.
DD (30 weeks pregnant with her) - uncommon, well outside top 500.

ellenpartridge · 28/08/2020 09:34

The name is well known and classic but we very rarely meet others. People would probably assume it's a common name but in practice I don't think it is amongst the preschool age group.

Kisforkaylied · 28/08/2020 09:28

Both very uncommon but one uses a shortening that is commonly heard. The other uses a shortening that I've since mainly heard used for cats!

LST · 28/08/2020 09:24

One used to be and the other apparently still it but I only know of 3.

Carouselfish · 28/08/2020 09:19

Uncommon. Used 50 times the year she was born. Everyone comments on how lovely it is. Everyone, except for her nursery teacher oddly, can spell it first time.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/08/2020 09:10

Dd1- depends how you look at it. Her actual name is given to 10-15 girls a year in England/Wales. The popular version of it is top 10. Posters on here say it's overused- but she has always been the only one in her classes (even her school for 4 years) etc (the popular version obviously- her version my DM knew one as a child, but that's it.)

DD2- name was given 150 girls the year she was born, ranked in the 300s. From the Baby Name board here, it's marmite.

Whalewhale · 28/08/2020 09:09

Both uncommon, one fairly unusual and the other very old fashioned!

MrsMoastyToasty · 28/08/2020 08:56

DS name is more common in Scotland than in England (where we live) but always hovers around the top 200 names. It's a Scottish clan name used as a first name and has 3 spelling variations.

Hellohah · 28/08/2020 08:53

DS' name is currently in the top 20 (according to a Google search) so would he say his is popular.

Sunflowers24 · 28/08/2020 08:51

It wasn’t even in the top 200. I was surprised that another student shares her name at school.

Even names outside the top 1000 are still used about 20-30 times per year.

I think some posters' definitions of 'uncommon' are questionable?!

Sunflowers24 · 28/08/2020 08:48

My ds name was used about 20 times in his birth year. So fairly uncommon.
