Mine is fairly common.

One has a more unusual name, the other has a classic Biblical name

MonsterRehab23 · 29/08/2020 01:43

DS fairly common. Was popular late 2000s when I had him. Now fallen out of top 100. DD extremely uncommon- only about 4 girls called this in 25 years. The name itself is very similar to very popular girls names though (about one letter difference). MN may think it’s yoonique Grin, but it’s actually an old name and used more frequently internationally. Also the name of a YouTuber and a US actress. I found a baby name book given to me when I was expecting DS and surprising found DD’s name in there.

RightOnTheEdge · 28/08/2020 23:06

My dds is quite common. She was one of three in her primary school but the only one now the others moved on.

My dcs is uncommon in this country. My exP is Brazilian so i think the name would be pretty common there and in Portugal but I've never known another one here.

Quackersandcheese3 · 28/08/2020 23:01

Both my kids have uncommon names

OhTheRoses · 28/08/2020 22:43

Absolutely not Rebecca Grin

TheDIsiilusionedAnarchist · 28/08/2020 22:41

DD1- very uncommon usually 3-6 babies every year with her name
DS- also a name that hovers at the bottom of the chart for boys but is unisex and slightly more popular for girls
DD2- very very uncommon, only ever made the charts once in the past 20 years. It’s not even outlandish, it’s an older perfectly average name from a fairly popular children’s book and more recently a TV show of said book.

shesellsseashells99 · 28/08/2020 22:38

@OhTheRoses

What's quite interesting is that dd has a classic name, quite often used in the late 90's. We paired it with an uncommon middle name. Subsequently we have come across at least three others with the same uncommon middle name.!!!
I'm guessing Rebecca?
PeterPomegranate · 28/08/2020 22:27

Son 1‘s name is outside top 100 but is a name you would know. It’s more often a surname than a first name.

Son 2’s name is just inside top 30. Very classic. Never the most popular but well known.

Son 1 hates his name according to him. I hope he changes his mind. Son 2 is too young to have an opinion.

Two DSs. Very well known names but not that 'common' (never had another boy in their class with same name).

CountFosco · 28/08/2020 21:58

Rare. DD1 there were 5 with her name last year, DD2 isn't on the list her name is so rare and DS there were 100 children with his name last year. That's about double when he was born but it is very popular in MN which is concerning me a lot.

I'm not English and my DC all have names that are popular where I'm from. So they go from a world where everyone thinks there name is unusual to a place where they meet people of all ages with their name.

Trailing1 · 28/08/2020 21:40

Both DDs names are rare in the uk, (indian origin names).

imamearcat · 28/08/2020 21:30

DD probably one of the most used classical names historically. But has a bit of a random shortened version to the point where I doubt she will ever meet another!

DS not top 100 but definitely a well known name

meow1989 · 28/08/2020 21:19

Ds name is uncommon in this country (number 400 and something- 100 registered the year he was born) but very common in parts of Europe. Its unusual but recognisably a name.

CoffeeRunner · 28/08/2020 21:16

DS1 - top 10 (but wasn’t when he was born, he’s named after my grandad).

DS2 - top 10 (and probably has been since records began pretty much).

DD - top 30. Again, when I first fell in love with her name I was a teenager 30 years ago. It was virtually unheard of then.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/08/2020 20:57

Both saints' names. One consistently popular, the other was popular when I was young, but less so now

frustrationcentral · 28/08/2020 20:54

DS1 - very classic. Went to primary school with no other children with the same name in his year. Just left secondary and his best friend all the way through has the same name ShockGrin

DS2 - more popular, still very classic. Couple in his year group although he's the only one with his abbreviation

BertieBotts · 28/08/2020 20:50

1x top 50 (falling), 1x top 10 (rising).

Cattenberg · 28/08/2020 20:50

DD’s name is uncommon in the UK, but not rare. It’s well outside the top 100, but was given to more than 100 babies last year.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 28/08/2020 20:48

DD: not even in the top 100 when she was born, but has become really quite popular since.

DS: moderately popular both now and then (top 100, but definitely not top 20)

troppibambini · 28/08/2020 20:47

Four kids.
One is quite unusual in England all are very popular in Italy especially one of the girls names. It's also a popular name in England but with a different spelling.

finallychangedmyusername · 28/08/2020 20:45

Both are top 50 names in the ONS stats this year, and have been for the best part of the decade (including their years of birth). Their middle names are too.

DS1 has another of his name in his school year and is a name I occasionally hear when out and about.
I have yet to meet another child sharing DS2's name (have met a couple of adults though).

I've never met anyone with their first name + middle name combination though (for either of them), in spite of the fact that all 4 names are top 50.

saddoiam · 28/08/2020 19:29

4 kids... one is considered common. The others are older names that were common in their time but no so much now

OpalExtra · 28/08/2020 19:18

One is top 100 and the other isn't.

PatchworkElmer · 28/08/2020 18:48

DS’s is just outside the top 20.
