First names to go with Jayne or Jane

How would you spell Jane/Jayne I like Jayne because its different and nice. Also do you have any firstname suggestions to go with Jayne/Jane

I know I'm in a serious minority here but I love the spelling with a y! It actually first to be used in the 1920s- and was a surname from 1300 onwards so not as yoo-nique as you may think.... I say use it with a y if you like it (I did as middle name and I love it!) but I'm sure I will get lots of people disagree Smile
Have just had a look and it looks as if it was used more in the USA as a first name in the early 20th century, and then from the 50s onwards in the UK.

I think Jane/Jayne goes well with any name that isn’t also one syllable. I would personally pick the spelling based on how it looks with the first and middle. I think if I used a more classic name with a common spelling I might use Jayne to mix it up a bit. If the first name is uncommon or has an unusual spelling I would use the classic Jane.

In one of Alan Ayckbourn's plays (Henceforward, I think), one character says that his daughter's name is 'Jane, spelt Geainne'
The other character asks ' Is that Gaelic?'
'No, just pretentious...'

Disclaimer: I am writing the dialogue from memory, so may not be word for word, but I always think of it when I hear the name.

Jane is a simple classic - I would stick to the classic spelling.

No it isn't. Jayne Mansfield was born in the 30s, and the name was most popular in the 60s, so it certainly wasn't something made up in the 80s. I don't think either Jane or Jayne were particularly popular as a first name by the 1980s.

Keep it classic, use Jane. It's one of those names that goes with anything.

I personally really like the 'Jayne' spelling. It gives it a slightly unique twist in my opinion.

I am an 80's monstrosity with Jayne as a middle name. As did half my female year group at high school. (Was either Jayne or Louise) won't even mention first name. Also an 80s monstrosity

Prefer Jane as a first name, far too many Sarah Janes or Laura Janes in my age group.

Jayne is one of the filler middle name of the 70s & 80s very much like Grace, May & Rose is now. It basically goes with any name.
