Diana?

What do we think?

I love it as a name, love how pretty it sounds but also strong - similar vein to the Olivia's and Sophia's but very unusual I think just now.

Is it too dated / doomed Princess - especially as we're UK based? Though we don't live in England, not sure if that makes a slight difference.

It’s pretty and not common in this generation. I think that makes it a win.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 28/08/2020 07:01

it is just lady di
so am not keen personally

Roselilly36 · 28/08/2020 06:57

I love Diana, gorgeous name. I have only ever known one Diana that I worked with years ago, I am really surprised it isn’t more popular. Classy and timeless, a great choice.

namenerd · 28/08/2020 01:49

I actually think it is really pretty 😍 however you may get some strange looks from others 😂
What about Delilah, Dahlia or Dayna? Or you could go for something like Bianca which is similarly traditional but not as dated?
If you really like Diana though, I say go for it because it's about time it came back into fashion! ❤

VenusClapTrap · 25/08/2020 14:32

I love it. I also love Dinah.

Elllicam · 24/08/2020 20:26

I like it, I think of Diana from Anne of Green Gables.

LentilShanklet · 24/08/2020 20:17

Timeless, beautiful

janetmendoza · 24/08/2020 20:14

It's great!

JanewaysBun · 24/08/2020 20:12

Love it!
I was yoing when princess Di died so wouldn't really connect it. Diana is tht goddess of love I think?

FluffyEggsontoast · 24/08/2020 13:51

Don't like the Die sound at the start
Freaks me out a bit and would hate that to be my nickname

Creamteafatty · 24/08/2020 12:31

I think it's an underused, good name. Admittedly it's not really my cup of tea but I appreciate it for what it is.

whatausername · 24/08/2020 10:25

I like Diana. Dinah is nice, Diane is dated.

I don't think the PoW connection matters. By the time your DD is at school the event will be a good 30 years old so only those 40+ will remember it. If they do hear of the princess it'll be something abstract and "old" to them. Rather like if the generation above me start talking about Grace Kelly. I've zero thoughts or feelings on the subject, it means nothing to me.

Carouselfish · 22/08/2020 23:27

I really liked Dinah but dp ruined it by thinking it was pronounced Deena. Apparently someone on an American TV show he watches does...
Diana, I like the letters and meaning but think it needs another five/ten years.

Orphlids · 22/08/2020 23:08

I love it. Really pretty and feminine, but carries weight. I’m late thirties, and wouldn’t immediately think of Princess Di, so I doubt your daughter’s peers would often make the association. Great choice.

vincettenoir · 22/08/2020 22:42

I like it.

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2020 22:39

I'm not sure it's ready for a comeback just yet.

timetest · 22/08/2020 22:36

Pretty name.

Firebird83 · 22/08/2020 22:31

Lovely

PlantPotting · 22/08/2020 17:29

Really hate the "Die" sound at the start and that's the natural nickname too (albeit not spelt like that)

latticechaos · 22/08/2020 17:27

Oh wow, this makes me feel old!

There's nothing wrong with the name in itself, but I might think you were obsessed with the Diana.

Mashingthecompost · 22/08/2020 17:27

I like it too. It was one of the names I loved when I was a kid (obvs in the news more back then) and it's one of the few I'd still use. (One of my other faves was Diamond... not so sure on that one now!)

TheRosariojewels · 22/08/2020 17:22

I like it.

daisypond · 22/08/2020 14:52

I like it. I think of the goddess too.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 22/08/2020 14:48

Diana is lovely.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/08/2020 14:48

I like it. And it makes me think Wonder Woman rather than Princess!
