@OrangeJ
They're called geminate consonants!
Every day's a school day!

ElizabethMainwaring · 26/08/2020 04:45
@ElizabethMainwaring I’m curious, how would you elongate ‘sh?’
Yeah, I know...
You can elongate lots of consonants.
I realised this pretty much as soon as I posted.
M,l,f,s etc.
There must be name for letters such as this, but I can't be arsed to look it up.Smile

OrangeJ · 26/08/2020 04:33

Op, congrats! I think names are becoming a bit more interchangeable. On a baby name app it just suggested Lynn to me as a boys name 🤷‍♀️ How about:

Winter
Maddison
River
Brooke (bit of a theme I know 😆)
Lacey
Piper

Cruz
Sullivan (Sully)
Orlando
Aspen
Carrie
Hank

fleurdeliz · 24/08/2020 18:24

know Oakley is more popular for a boy but I like it for a girl. Do you know girls called romy? Also I didn't ask for opinions on my name ideas

Yes, I know a few girls called Romy because it's a girls name. It's fine to use it for a boy if you want though it's a great name.

Remi/remy is similar boys name and is French or Nigerian.

You will get opinions on here because you've posted some interesting names. If you don't want comments you shouldn't post unfortunately! Or have a very thick skin...

@ElizabethMainwaring

Sorry for the pedantry, but it should be 'Heeeeelp!' not 'Helppppp!' You can elongate vowels but not consonants.
OP couldn't have known that, they can't even spell. Good of you to inform them though.

I have to be honest OP, I've never heard of most of these before.

Of the ones I do know, Romy is definitely a girls name (think of Romy Schneider and never come across it on a boy) I think of Blaise and Oakley as boys names, but appreciate this may not bother you.

Also just so you are aware, Hayes is an uninspiring suburb in west London and Easton is a rough part of Bristol.

Some unusual name suggestions for you

Girls
Calico
Roma
Piper
Danica
Blair
Marlow

Boys
Ace
Remy
Wyatt
Sasha
Koa

No, they are not unisex.
For hundreds of years Remy/Remi and Romy have belonged to one particular sex.

As you ask other posters, yes, I do know girls/women called Romy, short for Rosemary. There is also the very beautiful, famous and tragic actress Romy Schneider en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romy_Schneider

Jamie is not really a female name, either. For hundreds of years, it's been used by Scottish men. Different forms of the name James have occasionally been used, however, for women: www.britishbabynames.com/blog/2015/01/james.html.

What fleur said: Romy is a well-known shortening of Rosemary. Remi/Remy is a well-known shortening of Remigus, which means 'oarsman'.

Blaise is also a boy's name - and the name of a well-known saint , traditionally associated with diseases of the throat.

To be fair they are unisex. It's like the name Jamie is a boys name but I know girls named Jamie.

@DramaAlpaca

We don't share the same taste at all...

Oakley and Blaise are boys' names and Romy is a girls' name.

Addisyn looks like you can't spell, as does Layke.

It's a good job we all don't have the same taste cos all our children would have the same names!
