Middle name for Esther

Expecting second dd soon. We've decided on the name Esther but can't agree on a middle name. I like Beatrix (too popular?) and Sidonie. Husband unsure on both.
Any ideas?

I think Beatrix ticks all those boxes of course! Especially with the x ending, not ce, which runs into sibilance again.

lottiegarbanzo · 24/08/2020 10:37

Bella sprang to mind.

Sidonie is nice and unusual but you have to decide you feel about sibilance.

'M' names come to mind too. Miriam (v old testament combo), Marianne, Margot, Margaret.

I think 'landing on' a B or an M works well, with such a vowel-heavy, 'airy' sounding first name.

T or S are the other obvious choices, to carry those sounds through the name, not necessarily as the initial, e.g. could be Clementine using the T sound.

Esther Jean makes me think of oestrogen even though the 'eh' and 'ea' sounds are swapped round in oestrogen. 🤔

pinkyredrose · 23/08/2020 09:33

Does she need a middle name?

Esther Beatrix is good.

I also like Esther Florence, and I'll throw in Esther Jean as a short middle name suggestion too.

YukoandHiro · 23/08/2020 01:56

Thanks for all these suggestions. I'm now even happier with Beatrix and determined to convince OH! :)

But will put a few others into the mix too. Thanks!

Esther Beatrix is good.
I don’t like Esther Sidonie. There are too many S sounds. You’d sound like a bloody snake saying it. Plus the names have totally different vibes.

Rose.

Probably be because I know two sisters, eldest is Esther, youngest is Rose.

How many syllables are in your last name, and what is the initial? Are you looking for a smooth flow, or a dynamic syncopated bounce? And it is wise to avoid any unintentional initial combos.
Esther Joy is lovely, as a previous poster said.
