A colleague had a granddaughter called Thea Pearl. I really liked it.

CarlottaValdez · 22/08/2020 21:31

I know one who was born this morning! I love the name

mayandjuniper · 22/08/2020 21:26

Hate it, sorry!

Snooks1971 · 22/08/2020 21:12

I posted the other day, I have a teenage Pearl and she rocks it 🙂
The only, only negative I can say is that because it’s a one syllable word when I need to call her it does sound like I’m yelling. Although I probably am yelling… This is mostly because she has headphones on though these days. It’s a solo syllable issue. Fantastic name (biased)

SpeedofaSloth · 22/08/2020 21:12

I like it.

Mashingthecompost · 22/08/2020 18:14

I like Pearl. I can see a teen with this name, and I think it's not too weird for a kid. As far as granny names, I think a grandma named Pearl has had a fun life and isn't boring to go and stay with.

Scottishflower · 21/08/2020 20:10

Love it so much 😍, it's on my list. X

classicBritishMum · 21/08/2020 01:44

I think Pearl is a lovely name. Similarly, Opal is a very nice name.

FannyFernackerpan · 21/08/2020 01:28

Trashy? Old lady? Chav?

What ridiculous comments!

If a name conjures up those kinds of negative associations then you be must one judgemental arse. Not knowing the child, the parents, the family, the surname ... the mere fact a little girl is called Pearl is enough to make you think chav/trash/old lady. Utter bollocks!

OP, if you like the name Pearl then go for it. No reason to give a shiny shit what anyone else thinks, particularly those crass enough to make such ridiculously judgemental associations.

When I named my kids I didn't give a fuck what anyone else thought and neither should you.

If you like the name (and why shouldn't you? It's a perfectly fine name... ) then go ahead and name your baby girl Pearl.

4kidmom · 21/08/2020 01:12

I want to like it and I think it would make a nice middle name. It just isn’t pretty enough sounding to me to love it for a first name

Snooks1971 · 20/08/2020 23:48

Love it - and under-used

sunglassesonthetable · 20/08/2020 23:44

love it.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/08/2020 22:44

It's awful. A nickname for Margaret which is far nicer.

In the same boat as Olive.

Tillygetsit · 20/08/2020 22:39

Beautiful elegant name.

NotStayingIn · 20/08/2020 22:35

Really don't like it.

TheWashingMachine · 20/08/2020 22:10

I just think it's a bit trashy, but I'm not a fan of jewel names, they all sound a bit Victorian parlour maid to me.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 20/08/2020 22:10

Personally it screams old lady or chav to me i'm afraid

Hmm delightful

Beechview · 20/08/2020 22:08

It’s not the connotations but the way it sounds is what I don’t like. It just sounds like purring to me.
I don’t think it’s an awful name though.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 20/08/2020 22:04

It's beautiful 😍

imissthesouth · 20/08/2020 22:01

Personally it screams old lady or chav to me i'm afraid. It would be unique though which i always love

SummerSummerSummertime · 20/08/2020 21:48

Love.

Prettybluepigeons · 20/08/2020 21:38

I used to know a very camp gay man who everyone called Pearl.
It's an ugly granny name

MrsBungle · 20/08/2020 21:36

I love it. I’m not at all a granny name lover but I just find Pearl beautiful.

17CherryTreeLane · 20/08/2020 21:33

I love the name! Couldn't use it though, as my surname sounds too much like Harbour...

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 20/08/2020 21:28

Gorgeous name, love it
