Lucy or Penny?

We are currently expecting a baby. Don't know the sex yet. We have a boys name set in stone but not a girls.
What are people's thoughts on Penny and Lucy?

We have also thrown around the idea of Francesca, known as Frankie after a family member but not too sure.
Thanks in advance

I like both but prefer Lucy

Ellmau · 20/08/2020 18:56

Lucy.

MikeUniformMike · 20/08/2020 16:15

Lucy

supersonicginandtonic · 20/08/2020 15:00

I think DP is swinging more towards Lucy at the moment.

Don’t like Penny, don’t know why. Just screams ‘girl who cries at everything and has pigtails’ to me. Prefer Lucy out of those 2 but love Francesca the most.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 20/08/2020 14:14

Lucy - it’s a classic for a reason, I think it will age well.
I think there are a lot of baby Penny’s at the moment, and it’s a bit twee for me personally.

Anappleaday1 · 20/08/2020 13:55

Lucy - simple and classic - I don't think you can go wrong!
I love Penelope but less keen on Penny
I don't particularly like Francesca. If you use this then make sure you're happy with all the nn as she may decide to go by Fran/Chess/Franny when older.

LouisaKelmen · 20/08/2020 10:43

I Love Lucy!🧡😏
Lovely name.

babynamelover · 20/08/2020 10:41

My daughter's middle is Francesca. I like it but prefer as a middle name. I know both Penny and Lucy both are nice, for some reason Lucy seems more usuable right from baby to adult.

PlantPotting · 20/08/2020 10:17

I just think put what you want on the birth certificate. Penny would be lovely. @supersonicginandtonic
Still I vote Lucy

len1234 · 20/08/2020 09:55

Lucy! I only like Penny as a nickname for Penelope.

supersonicginandtonic · 20/08/2020 09:53

Do you think if we go with Penny it would be better to have Penelope on the birth certificate?

Francesca is my favourite
Then Lucy
Dislike Penny

Peachbubble · 20/08/2020 07:11

Lucy, not keen on Penny.

August20 · 20/08/2020 02:42

Lucy. I love it!

I also like Penny but only as a nickname.

I really like Francesca as well.

IdblowJonSnow · 20/08/2020 02:24

Lucy and then penny. I dont know many of either.
Dislike Francesca, sorry!
Lucy is Latin and means light which I think is lovely!

howlathebees · 20/08/2020 02:04

Penny

MsMarple · 20/08/2020 01:43

Penny (Penelope) definitely. I wanted to be Penelope Pitstop when I was younger!

AlwaysLatte · 20/08/2020 01:16

Lucy is lovely

wishing3 · 20/08/2020 00:25

Lucy!

Inkpaperstars · 20/08/2020 00:23

Difficult, I have relatives called both of these names and like them both! I think Lucy is the better choice though, it's more versatile somehow.

Enough4me · 20/08/2020 00:23

Lucy, because Penny makes me think of money.

janetmendoza · 20/08/2020 00:19

Lucy

PlantPotting · 20/08/2020 00:09

Both lovely especially Lucy. But I really like Penny too. Hate Francesca though sorry. Way too frilly compared to your other lovely names.

blibblibs · 19/08/2020 23:34

Definitely Penny, every Penny I've known have been lovely, Lucy's not so much.
