Thoughts? Not sure what I think of it. Is it dated?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I immediately think Simple Simon.

ILoveStickers · 18/08/2020 15:13

A little dated, along the lines of Paul or David, but still very usable.

Tbh, I think there's something to be said for names that are on a downward rather than upward trajectory.

CakeAndPreggers · 18/08/2020 15:12

I'd say it's under used. It's on our list if we have a son as it's got sentimental value for us.

MikeUniformMike · 18/08/2020 15:10

Classic, nice, underused.
I'd say it was in the same league as Andrew, Peter, Mark, Matthew, Paul, Philip.

totallyyesno · 18/08/2020 15:08

I have never liked it but I think that's because of "Simple Simon".

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 18/08/2020 15:07

I really like it! All the Simons I know are good guys. It's quite refreshing to hear.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/08/2020 15:06

I love it.

celtiethree · 18/08/2020 15:06

Not for me, plus every time I hear it I just hear the nursery rhyme. Still very dated.

VenusClapTrap · 18/08/2020 15:05

To me it’s the same school of names as Alan, Colin, Keith etc. Not ready for a comeback.

combatbarbie · 18/08/2020 15:04

My DHs name..... I wouldn't put it in the same category as other older names that are being phased out, but have not come across another one under the age of 40

emmathedilemma · 18/08/2020 14:58

Definitely in the underused classics category for me too.

Topseyt · 18/08/2020 14:55

I like it. I don't think it is dated and it may make a comeback.

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2020 14:53

I'd call it an underused classic. It's a bit dated, in that it's not been popular in recent years, but it's still a fine name. I like it a lot.
