The name Willabelle

What do you think of the name Willabelle for a girl? DH looks quite keen, and while I think that it is pretty and has a bit of a woodland princess feel to it, I'm not sure if it is a good name for a child or if it is better being left for fairytale princesses.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Viviennemary · 18/08/2020 00:48

Not keen. Sorry. But I've heard a lot worse.

reginafelangee · 18/08/2020 00:46

Awful. Sorry.

YourWinter · 18/08/2020 00:45

Oh good God you can't do that to a child. Get a doll if you want to give something such a stupid name.

sunyla · 18/08/2020 00:33

What about Bellamy?

sunyla · 18/08/2020 00:31

I love Willa and Belle separately but not a fan of Willabelle, sorry!

August20 · 18/08/2020 00:21

Isabelle is lovely, op

SemperIdem · 18/08/2020 00:01

I don’t hate it and it does have a woodland fairy feel to it. However it does have potential issues that I’d rather avoid, if it were my child.

Purpledaisychain · 17/08/2020 23:56

@SionnachRua You can always count on mumsnet to tell it how it is. Smile

@HolloTalk It's German. A different take on Wilhelmina.

HollowTalk · 17/08/2020 23:54

@SockYarn

It's not a name. HTH.
My thoughts exactly! It's part of a question, not a name.
SionnachRua · 17/08/2020 23:52

@Purpledaisychain well you certainly got that ammo in spades here Grin

Willa, Willow and Belle are all perfectly good names. Not so much when they're put together!

Purpledaisychain · 17/08/2020 22:31

@ILoveFood87

I think willa/willow and I like Belle. Just not together in one name. I'm going to probably play around with first and middle names and see what I come up with that way. Smile

ILoveFood87 · 17/08/2020 21:59

Why not Willow-Belle if you like it. What you said doesn't look nice.

AudTheDeepMinded · 17/08/2020 21:56

Although Isabel could also be 'Is a bell really necessary on a bike?', as my Mum used to say! (sorry).

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 17/08/2020 21:35

Sounds awful
Not keen on Mirabel is a ski resort

Willa or belle but not together
Isabelle
Gabrielle
Annabelle

Purpledaisychain · 17/08/2020 21:29

@SionnachRua

I never really picked the idea up. This thread was more about gathering ammunition to convince DH it was a bad idea.

OP posts:
DrDetriment · 17/08/2020 20:02

Sorry it's terrible.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 17/08/2020 19:55

Bonkers

Ellmau · 17/08/2020 19:51

It sounds like a character in a novel set in the American south. Probably elderly and/or quirky.

SionnachRua · 17/08/2020 19:50

Oh thank God you've dropped that idea. Poor child being named Willabelle...

Minai · 17/08/2020 19:01

I love Willa and Belle but together as a first name they just sound silly. Kind of cute on a toddler but I can’t imagine an adult with this name. Could you use Belle as a middle name?

OpalExtra · 17/08/2020 18:58

Willabellend? Will a bell end what?

florascotia2 · 17/08/2020 18:56

OP as I expect you know, if you Google "willabelle" you come up with an Internet influencer.

Isabelle is lovely. Or any of the many different spellings.
Willa is nice, too.
Many congratulations on forthcoming baby.

PotteringAlong · 17/08/2020 18:50

(But please spell it Isobel)

Ninkanink · 17/08/2020 18:49

Oh thank god you’ve already discarded the notion...

MikeUniformMike · 17/08/2020 18:48

I don't think that even a fairytale princess would thank anyone for naming her Willabelle.
