Middle name for Delilah?

TakeMeToYourLiar · 16/08/2020 17:07

I know Delilah is not to everyone's taste, but we have picked it, so need to comment on that.

What we are struggling for is a middle name.

DS has a first name we liked, then a meaningful middle name.

Delilah is the meaningful name for us, so looking for something we like as a middle name, but drawing a blank.

Yolanda Yasmin Yvette?

Then she can be Y Y Y, Delilah ;-)

Joking aside, a lovely name, and one you don't come across very often! Delilah Jean is very pretty.

Flappingflamingo · 17/08/2020 19:48

Love delilah Jean 😍

MikeUniformMike · 17/08/2020 19:44

Delilah is likely to be more popular than you think, and Lila and Lilah sound very similar. Rose is an obvious mn.

Jemima sounds a bit like Delilah and is less divisive.

Ormally · 17/08/2020 16:52

Delilah Claire
Delilah Elise

It's so strange - before I opened this post, I thought "Jean" straight away! Is that a famous name or something? Why do we all come up with that?!

But yes, Delilah Jean sounds very nice. Also like Faye (I love that name anyway).

CaffiSaliMali · 17/08/2020 13:03

I agree with PPs that Delilah Jean has a nice ring to it.

I think Delilah goes with a lot of names, including more common middle names like Grace, May and Rose.

Delilah Juliet
Delilah Mary/Marie

Delilah Rachel
Delilah Isabel
Delilah Katharine
Delilah Ruby
Delilah Charlotte
Delilah Emily
Delilah Phoebe
Delilah Alice

Thanks all, some lovely suggestions.

John is a family name so Delilah Jean is particularly appealing atm.

Couple of people asked about surname. It's 2 syllables. Begins with sh sound and ends with a hard n, so need to avoid those

Delilah is a beautiful name. I'm trying to encourage my sister to use it if she has a girl next. I think one syllable sounds best.

It's got to be Delilah Rose. Flows lovely.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 17/08/2020 03:24

Lucy, Josephine, Elizabeth.
I really like Delilah, and there are several songs too!

worstwitch18 · 17/08/2020 03:18

It depends on how long the surname is.

If your surname is one syllable, I think you can do either a long or short middle name.

If your surname is two or more syllables, I think a short middle name would be best.

If you're really stuck, just use your name as the middle name.

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2020 01:22

I like Delilah Jean too, and Delilah Jane.

A longer name will also work, Delilah Josephine is nice, and I like a pp's suggestion of Delilah Clementine.

I think it's quite an easy name to put a middle name with as lots of names go. Just avoid anything starting with a vowel or ending in 'a'.

Shesapunkpunk · 17/08/2020 01:20

Yes Delilah Jean is beautiful. Or Delilah Joy. Or even Delilah Jane.

whatausername · 17/08/2020 01:14

It's odd to say about Jean but Delilah Jean does have a certain elegance to it.

Heh1991 · 16/08/2020 23:34

Delilah is lovely and I think a short middle name would flow best.

Jane
Rae
Eve
Grace
Rose
Wren
May
