Hello, due twin boys in a couple of weeks time and are thinking of using these names with Thomas and Edward on birth certificate for full. What do people think? Cheers Smile

Adorable but also stong classic names for when they’re older

Cat14123 · 13/08/2020 20:34

LOVE the names!

We have a Thomas shortened to Tommy! & we considered Teddy 🙃

I love a posh name on a birth certificate and a nickname for everyday life, both of ours are like this!

starfish18 · 13/08/2020 20:33

Tommy and teddy are cute xx

daisypond · 13/08/2020 20:32

I would never make the association that Thomas and Edward are trains. They are nice classic names. I’d avoid Ted if you use Tom. Ed is nice.

FrolickingLemon · 13/08/2020 20:28

Absolutely! Brilliant names.

My grandfather was Timothy, but known his whole life as Ted.

rayoflightboy · 13/08/2020 20:26

I prefer Ted to Tom.
Edward and William

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 13/08/2020 20:26

I know twin boys who are Tommy and Teddy. Its quite sweet. They can always go by the long version when they get older if they like.

PersonaNonGarter · 13/08/2020 20:24

It’s a bit twinky winky

Tom and Ed is better, or Ned

Mollythepoodle · 13/08/2020 20:23

Tom and Ned

Bassettgirl · 13/08/2020 20:22

I thought Bill and Ted too! I don't think the tank engine thing is an issue at all. Maybe if one was called Gordon or Percy.

Enderman · 13/08/2020 20:13

Thomas and Edward are trains! Tom and Ted are cute, Ted may end up as Ed I guess as you can’t choose what they get called at school etc.

Flappingflamingo · 13/08/2020 19:29

I know they were called Bill and Ben but my first thought was the flower pot men!! 😂 😂 🤭🤭 However I love the name Edward

AriesTheRam · 13/08/2020 18:58

I like Tommy and Teddy

MikeUniformMike · 13/08/2020 18:56

Call them Tom and Tim

howlathebees · 13/08/2020 17:47

I like Tom and Ed

FizzyGreenWater · 13/08/2020 17:46

Eeek, nice names, but Tom and Ted makes them sound like hamsters. Tom and Ed or Tom and Eddie much better.

But also, it does sound a bit Tank Engine... however if you want trad names and like Thomas it's hard to get away from that!

zigaziga · 13/08/2020 17:43

I wouldn't give them the same initial. when letters arrive with only initials on them, it'll be hard to know who's letter is who

But they won’t have the same initials?

SisterAgatha · 13/08/2020 17:37

They sound like a most courageous, bodacious team. It’s the “and ted” that’s doing it. Sorry Blush

EarlGreyJenny · 13/08/2020 17:33

Tom and Ed better I think. Tom and Ted (both lovely names on their own) sounds like a CBeebies programme

RuthW · 13/08/2020 17:33

Perfect names

Carouselfish · 13/08/2020 17:28

Sounds a bit puppety...agree Tom and Ed preferable.

PotteringAlong · 13/08/2020 17:26

If I was going to shorten them, I would make it Tom and Ed, which sounds a bit less matchy matchy.

PotteringAlong · 13/08/2020 17:25

I don’t like Tom and Ted, but I do like Thomas and Edward. I wouldn’t shorten the names.

Monday55 · 13/08/2020 17:21

I wouldn't give them the same initial. when letters arrive with only initials on them, it'll be hard to know who's letter is who.... I used to share an initial with a member of my family and it used to annoy me when letters arrive with initial on them instead of full name.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 13/08/2020 16:55

I know a Tom and Ed, which i prefer to be honest.
