We have Maisie Ivy.

Due baby two later in year and recommencing name battle.

She was Jemima until I saw her and she was just not a Jemima, she is my Maisie moo. I adore her name, she absolutely owns it.

I like ie sounding names and we are in Scotland. Dh likes traditional Scottish names.

So far we have
Rosie
Holly
Poppy

Murdoch
Issac
Fergus

None of these I LOVE like I do Maisie. Although I didn't love Maisie till I saw her.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or combinations which might work?

I also love Scarlett but dh does not and there is a local accent issue with it becoming scarluh

How about Rosa (with a hard 's' not a z sound) which is a Scottish pronunciation (I may or may not be personally invested here 😂)

GinWithRosie · 12/08/2020 16:09

OP...I was saying the names in my head as I was reading the lists...and imagining shouting them across a supermarket or park 😳 Glad I didn't upset you 💓

LemonyFace · 12/08/2020 16:08

Friend of mine has a Maisie and a Toby; neither would be my choice but they go well together I think. If it was two girls I think I'd stay away from two -ie ending names.

icedaisy · 12/08/2020 15:59

@GinWithRosie not at all, I have found this thread really helpful because I see what you mean.

I had thought ie went best but I have done a complete u turn. Dh will be delighted, not!

(The more you read the lists of two ‘ie’ sound ending names OP, the more they sound a little ‘twee’ 🤦‍♀️...sorry!)

Eg Maisie and Rosie, Maisie and Daisy (individually lovely names, just not as a pairing)

Whereas...

Maisie and Isla, Maisie and Beth, Maisie and Thea...still lovely names, roll off the tongue better, doesn’t sound twee or ‘cutesy’ 👍

HalfBloodPrincess · 12/08/2020 15:55

Aiden
Innes
Dominic
Jonah

Ruby
Delilah

Oh lots I like, great.

Iona, Isla etc very popular here just now.

What about boys? I really struggle with boys names. Only name last time was Gabriel. I think I might have done a Jemima and changed my mind.

Doesn't help I was a criminal, family lawyer so have a lot of name associated issues!

Penny is lovely. Really like that.

Yes absolutely. She was a section delivery so nurses announced she was a girl and asked if I had a name, I said Jemima, they write it down and hand her to me and I'm like no no, she's not a Jemima. Fifteen years in the waiting and took me days to name her.
