We have Maisie Ivy.

Due baby two later in year and recommencing name battle.

She was Jemima until I saw her and she was just not a Jemima, she is my Maisie moo. I adore her name, she absolutely owns it.

I like ie sounding names and we are in Scotland. Dh likes traditional Scottish names.

So far we have
Rosie
Holly
Poppy

Murdoch
Issac
Fergus

None of these I LOVE like I do Maisie. Although I didn't love Maisie till I saw her.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or combinations which might work?

I also love Scarlett but dh does not and there is a local accent issue with it becoming scarluh

I love Maisie that's was one of the names I wanted if my second was a girl. He was a boy so he's Vinny/Vincent. I would have also liked Cecily for a girl.

I love Fergus and Isaac from your lists.

The Maisy I know has an older sister called Molly

TheRosariojewels · 15/08/2020 13:13

I used to work with a Murdoch Mc... I thought he had the coolest name. I love the illiteration.

Liveinthepresent · 15/08/2020 00:19

I don’t often pitch in to baby names but I know a Maisie and Millie. They are such gorgeous girls maybe that influences me but I love the combination - never thought it to be twee.
Molly maybe just as good.

CharlieBoo · 15/08/2020 00:08

I actually think Maisie and Jemimia is lovely. Agree that another ie name can be a bit samey, but some still work..

How about Alice? Or Nancy? I love Molly too

Yes it is @ZoyaTheDestroyer and that was exactly my thought when I read that post. It didn't even change it every time which is more annoying.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 12/08/2020 22:31

OP if that’s your autocorrect turning Isaac into Issac you have a glimpse of how frequently people will misspell it.

icedaisy · 12/08/2020 21:17

So I have redone lists and will set aside.

The more I think about it the more I'm sure I cannot name a person without seeing them.

So I will take lists this time and get to snuggle them and then choose.

Loads of great ideas though thank you so much.

Maisie and Mimi (could be jemima as full name?).

I do love Gabriel. Maisie and Gabe is nice. I like Arthur too. And Stanley. Maisie and Stan. Cute!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/08/2020 20:17

Would you not use Gabriel this time round if it’s a boy.
More boy suggestions. I only have girl ones before.
Thomas.
Peter
Oliver.
Jack.
Henry
Charlie.

daisypond · 12/08/2020 20:13

Lilias is a Scottish form of Lily. I like it.
Flora is great.
Freya? Not Scottish but Scandi.
Effie? Short for Euphemia but it is Scottish.
Jean is rather good, I think.

Issac isn’t spelled right. It’s Isaac.
Andrew
Fraser
Douglas
Gregory

Oh that's strange @123Dancewithme I never thought of it!Blushmaybe that's fate, this one might look like Jemima. Mim?

Lots of good thoughts thank you all.

I do still like Maisie and Maggie but appreciate all comments.

Jemima was my first thought, before I read your post!

danascully96 · 12/08/2020 17:48

Whoops, Audrey should be with the “ee” names!

danascully96 · 12/08/2020 17:47

I really love the sweet name Lily! Other “ee” names I like:

Genevieve (nn “Ginny”)
Annie
Lacey
Rosemary (nn “Rosie”)
Josephine (nn “Josie”)
Jane (nn “Janey”)
Bridget (nn “Bridie”)
Kelly
Noelle (nn “Ellie“)
Molly
Lindsey

Non “ee” names:
Nora
Isla
Wren
Audrey
Eliza
Clara

ThatsNotMyNameItsTooFluffy · 12/08/2020 17:37

Fair enough. She could have Magda nn Maggie. I doubt anyone will consider Maisie/Maggie as synonyms even if derivative

florascotia2 · 12/08/2020 17:20

You can't have Maggie or Margot with Maisie - they're all different versions of the same name, Margaret.

I think earlier suggestions of Flora (of course!), Morag, Marsali and Ailsa might be good, but I also quite like Scottish retro names such as Alison and Catriona. To be really traditional (and if you like names ending in 'ie') there is always Janet, traditionally nicknamed 'Jessie'.
