Baby boy is due in 5 weeks. My partner has his heart set on Rory but yesterday I came across the name Ronnie on a baby names list, I really like it.
Which do you prefer?

Ronnie is horrible.

Rory is quite sweet. And a decent name for a grown up too.

Rory.

Ronnie is very popular for a start. It’s not a name that will carry you through life with any sense of gravitas.

Rory, by very many miles.

OTOH I do like Reginald with Reggie as a nickname.

Rory. Ronnie has a very different, not as lovely vibe to me.

AllPlayedOut · 11/08/2020 15:42

Rory is infinitely nicer. Ronnie is awful.

Very different vibes, Rory works in the city, Ronnie is Mrs Hinchs kid

Rory, by about a hundred million miles. Gorgeous name.

Ronnie just doesn't compare, it's awful.

If it's only those two choices, I'd have to go with Rory over Ronnie, which is really, really awful (in my opinion, obviously). But I don't much like Rory either if I'm honest.

I have always avoided 'R' names, as I hear so many children (and actually many adults!) with poor 'R' pronunciation and it has just put me off.

But your baby, your choice...just, not Ronnie 😱

Rory, by a long way.
