What would you DC be called?

My partner had her heart set on Scarlett for upcoming DD but I couldn’t be swayed no matter how hard I tried to like the name.

For a boy - Leo. I used to be a nanny for a boy called Leo who is by far the most, difficult? child I’ve ever come across in 31 years of living so I just couldn’t shake it 😅

We have a Scots surname -DFIL was from Northumberland. We struggled with DS2 name, and he thought every name I suggested ( Alistair, Cameron) were too Scottish. And then said "so, how about Andrew?" He did not understand while it took me a while to stop laughing.

lockdownbreakdown · 25/08/2020 19:28

He just reeled off a list of his mates names. So, Tom, Pete, John, Dave. No imagination and very little interest so I named him.

NoemiaElara · 25/08/2020 19:23

My children would be nameless...

NatalieH2220 · 25/08/2020 19:07

Dave....Not David just Dave 😑😑

LemonPeonies · 25/08/2020 19:05

DP wanted to name our DS Ceaser...

Mj2196 · 25/08/2020 18:55

He did . We’ve got a Jamie. He’s 11 weeks n I just can’t warm to it fully🤣 keeps being mistaken for a girl

I was over ruled on Eli Jude , but if he was a girl I was picking, we’d have a Callie or a Jacqueline

shesellsseashells99 · 24/08/2020 19:49

Lois!! But I really didnt like it 10 years ago but now I think actually it's quite nice!!

Roselilly36 · 24/08/2020 19:48

DH loves the name Maximilian, neither of our DS’ are called that.

RIPWalter · 24/08/2020 19:34

My DH chose my DD name...Ripley.

SeagullSong · 24/08/2020 19:32

Nadine, vetoed on the grounds that we pronounce it differently not because I think of Girls Aloud. Fortunately we had a boy and agreed on his name easily.

newtothistown · 24/08/2020 18:52

VeggieSausageRoll That's quite insulting, Iago is actually a family name for me and not just a random made up one. No need to be so rude about a name just because you don't like it.

longcoffee · 24/08/2020 18:35

Sidney or Sydney

NataliaOsipova · 24/08/2020 18:27

My DDs would have been Rosemary and Imogen.

@VeggieSausageRoll Iago?? That’s got to win the thread....😂

IndieTara · 24/08/2020 18:22

If ex DH had chosen we'd have had either Nedda or Faris.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 24/08/2020 17:24

Christina.

I think he went back to the 1970s/80s for a bit there.

'Baby Chrissy' 'baby Tina' 😬

CabernetSoWhat · 24/08/2020 17:12

My DH was only half joking about calling DC1 Zeus. He came up with something better in the end.

Left to him, DD would have been Skye or Michaela. She is neither.

spiderlight · 24/08/2020 14:07

Athelstan. Nope.

VeggieSausageRoll · 24/08/2020 07:41

Iago.

There was no way I was loaning my body out for 9 months, destroying my fanjo in the birthing process and calling the resulting child fucking Iago.

Or Desdemona for a girl Hmm

LilyLongJohn · 24/08/2020 07:11

My ex wanted to call our son Mark. Nope no way

uglyface · 24/08/2020 07:11

Megan, Serena or Bethany. Or anything double barrelled with May or Rose 🤮

BeMorePacific · 24/08/2020 06:49

John & Jessica... 🥱

lookatmememe · 24/08/2020 04:35

My DH chose the children's names and I agreed because they were good ones but ironically he has nicknames for them that bear no resemblance to their lovely names at all. And everyone uses those names now.

happymummy12345 · 24/08/2020 03:13

We didn't want to find out the sex until the baby was born. But we agreed on both first and middle names for both a boy and a girl. We decided that middle names would be after our closest friends. So if we had a boy his middle name would be my husbands closest friends first name. If we had a girl her middle name would be my closest friends first name. And first names we agreed on both a boys and a girls name. So it was never something we didn't agree on.

earthyfire · 23/08/2020 22:29

Abigail for a girl - I didn't like it but he suggested it a few times

LiviLoggo · 14/08/2020 16:46

Guy, and absolutely no interest in finding a girl name
(the only name he even remotely liked after he very briefly glanced at the book of names I gave him)

he had barely any input as always

turned out we had a girl and her name is Anna - chosen by me
