Which middle name for Franklin?

SamOvens · 10/08/2020 13:44

Me and DW are opting for Franklin for DS1, shortened to Frankie when small, and Frank when more grown up. However, we would like to know which of these middle names mumsnetters like the best:

Franklin Charles Ovens
Franklin George Ovens
Franklin James Ovens
Franklin Joseph Ovens
Franklin Alexander Ovens

Thanks Smile

@FizzyGreenWater I think that’s a good point you made. However IMO I think James has a soft edge also, particularly compared to George or Charles with the hard “r” sound.

@bluemoon2468 congratulations! Franklin is a good choice of name IMO.

Any of them! All are good. However, I like Joseph - it's got a softer edge which is good against Franklin, the more super-trad George, James, Charles sound very very stuffy put with Franklin. As if he is an 18th century lord.

I really like Franklin James.

I like James

Oh they're just having a bit of gentle fun. I'm sure nobody meant to disrespect you! I know I didn't. Flowers

SamOvens · 11/08/2020 15:53

@TalkingOutOfMyBottom whether or not you define that as “trolling”, it was off-topic to the discussion. So therefore I consider it rather disrespectful.

Joseph

babydisney · 10/08/2020 22:52

George or James

TalkingOutOfMyBottom · 10/08/2020 22:50

Oh come on OP - that's not trolling, they are just having a bit of fun. Hmm

SamOvens · 10/08/2020 22:47

@WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat it’s always good to have trolls on your thread that don’t want to actually help with the question at hand.

@Sunbird24 not a bad shout. I’ve taken Franklin Alexander out the running (too many syllables) but we are both now considering Franklin Robert in addition to the other four too.

@perfumeistooexpensive that isn’t really answering my question.

Joseph ❤

Sunshines123 · 10/08/2020 21:47

The 1 syllable options Charles, George and James definitely work best in my opinion and would all be great choices

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 10/08/2020 20:45

I like James.

Elderflower14 · 10/08/2020 20:34

Delano...!

timetest · 10/08/2020 20:32

They all sound good together. Of them all I prefer a James.

Sunbird24 · 10/08/2020 20:30

I thought James when I saw the thread title, but everything you’ve got on your list is good! If you like them all equally I’d write them down on bits of paper and pick one out of a hat

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 10/08/2020 20:26

Roosevelt?

MyPetPegasus · 10/08/2020 20:23

Joseph.
