Raven

Just looking for some opinions please....

I love the name Raven for a girl, but would you find this strange for a pale skinned girl with blonde hair?

Not guaranteed to be blonde but both DP and I had bright blonde hair when we were little, as do most of our family. I guess it could be mousey brown as well, but there’s no chance it’d be black so any opinions would be appreciated Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It’s a very dramatic name, but I like it. I do think the child would need to be dark though. It would seem faintly ridiculous to me on a blonde person; although I’m clearly in the minority there.

cancelculturemeinyellow · 06/08/2020 18:07

That's so Raven

Giraffey1 · 06/08/2020 18:02

Personally, no, I find it bit pretentious.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2020 18:00

If i have twin girls next I want Lillith and Raven

SoupDragon · 06/08/2020 17:58

Harbinger of doom.

TheOrigBrave · 06/08/2020 17:53

I'm afraid I just think the one on The Omen. I wouldn't name a child Raven

PurBal · 06/08/2020 17:45

My best friend growing up is a Raven

Elouera · 06/08/2020 17:41

Its different, without being too out there. I also like Ebony.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2020 17:37

Funky enough the only raven I know is a skin little blonde girl in glasses so no, it wouldn't be strange. I actually really like it

PoodleMoth · 06/08/2020 17:36

I have only met one Raven and she was lovely, she was quite fair but it didn't seem odd. People would quickly get used to it as her name

BinkyBoinky · 06/08/2020 15:27

One of my all time favourite names ❤️

It might look odd on pale blonde hair though, but it's just a name.

KickingItSince1966 · 06/08/2020 15:25

Raven is a very cool name.

ScrapThatThen · 06/08/2020 15:24

I like Raeven

Glacierminty · 06/08/2020 15:16

Love it

Strokethefurrywall · 06/08/2020 14:58

Love it, go for it!

Bubbletrouble43 · 06/08/2020 14:39

I love it. I have a Robin, a friend has a Wren. Nothing wrong with a bird name. Makes a change from plants and flowers.

britespark1 · 06/08/2020 14:37

Apologies, another one who immediately thinks of Teen Titans with this name. I do like it though!

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/08/2020 14:31

I know 1, she has dark Mediterranean colouring.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 06/08/2020 14:14

I think of Raven from DC Comics. She's a character in the Titans series on Netflix, and Teen Titans Go, which my child and most of my friends' kids love.

I think of a bird when I hear the name aswell lol.

rebecca102 · 06/08/2020 13:55

I like it but it did make me think of a bird haha

AriettyHomily · 06/08/2020 13:53

I love it and wouldn't link it to the hair colour at all. The daughter in our Yorkshire Farm is called Raven and I think she's a red head.

Orphlids · 06/08/2020 13:50

I rather like it. It’s a lovely sound, with that nice V in the middle. It’s not too bizarre, but it’s certainly interesting enough to be memorable. And ravens are just the most wonderful birds, aren’t they? The fourth most intelligent species on the planet, I think. I’d be excited to meet a little girl named Raven. Much more interesting than all the Ellie-Maes and Evie-Graces who seem to be absolutely everywhere. The hair colour wouldn’t even occur to me, I don’t think.

rollonoctober · 06/08/2020 13:46

My niece is a blonde haired, pare Raeven (Dutch spelling). I love it.
There is also a little boy locally called Raven, also pale and blonde. I never really thought about the colouring to be honest.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 06/08/2020 13:31

I wouldn't, Teen Titans Go is likely to be around for a time yet. It'd be the equivalent of calling your kids Topsy and Tim or Katie Morag....
