I like it - I think it’s cute.

Kittykatmacbill · 06/08/2020 07:19

I have an Edith, I really like it but if you are picking it because there won’t be any you will be disappointed!

Edith Elizabeth was my first choice of name i I think it has a nice ring to it, but my dh wanted to use another family name (that also begins with an e) as a middle name, so we went with that.

Can't decide... so difficult! Thanks for feedback and suggestions. X

Either
Edith Elizabeth Or Edith Betsy are both lovely @MummyofMunchkins123

I think it's fine to use Edith on BC but just use Edie all the time. All schools and nursery's have a form and ask your child's official name and also what they want to be "Known as". If you put Edie then it'll be Edie on her coat peg etc no problem

OnyourOwn · 05/08/2020 16:29

I really like Edith, it's grown on me - which I never thought it would. However the combo is way too twee for my liking.

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2020 14:54

I like Betsy but don't like Edith.

emmathedilemma · 05/08/2020 07:48

I really like Edith but not Betsy, it's definitely too old lady twee.

babydisney · 05/08/2020 01:48

Don't like the Elizabeth suggestions, not a great name, like the name you've picked or penny edith

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 05/08/2020 00:37

Edith Elizabeth sounds like a classic strong name.
At school (probably nursery too) we filled in applications forms.
Name fred
Surname smith
Known as Freddie weddie
Same for learning to write their name.
All official stuff has proper name on, but every day things have the chosen name.
Note. Made up name, before anybody comments on Freddie weddie

Cado12 · 04/08/2020 23:52

My friend’s daughter is called Edie and since she started school, the teachers call her Eddie.
Everytime someone sees it written down, they pronounce it Eddie. It drives my friend mad and she wishes she had chosen a different name but her daughter is 6 now so...!
She’s worried she’s will have this all her life, through school and work and feels a bit guilty!

How about Eden and Edie for short?

Or Eliza or Elise to tie in the Elizabeth ?

123Dancewithme · 04/08/2020 23:51

Edith Elizabeth sounds good to me!

TildaTurnip · 04/08/2020 23:30

I really like Edith Elizabeth.

VenusClapTrap · 04/08/2020 23:28

Love Edith. I think it sounds great with Elizabeth as a middle name.

Merename · 04/08/2020 23:07

LOVE Edith and Betsy, and they go well together. Adorable.

Oneandabean · 04/08/2020 22:58

I love it, I’d go for Edith on bc. Edith elizabeth sounds good too

OneStepAheadOfTheToddler · 04/08/2020 22:48

I don't really like it, sorry. Especially Betsy. If you're set on Edith, which is ok, I would choose a different non-E middle name. Like Edith Rose or Edith Constance.

JulesM73 · 04/08/2020 22:41

Sorry think it’s terrible, very old lady like.

morethanmeetstheeye · 04/08/2020 22:38

I love the Edith Elizabeth idea. Those are names that work well as she matures into a woman and can be shortened nicely too! I like the name Betsy as well but I think Edith Elizabeth is lovely! I'm a strong believer in being very careful to endure names will give your child gravitas in a working environment.

MNX42 · 04/08/2020 22:30

Betsy is awful, why would you saddle q child with that? She's not a rabbit. Edith Elizabeth is a good name.

Enderman · 04/08/2020 22:26

Way to twee and cutesy.

Love Edie, really don’t like Edith. Edie Elizabeth goes perfectly! If you name her Edith then that’s the name she would need to fill in. It’s too old lady though I don’t like it. Edie I see as cool.

NannyR · 04/08/2020 22:23

Edith Elizabeth sounds great, they go together really well. I much prefer Elizabeth to Betsy.

FredtheCatsMum · 04/08/2020 22:21

Give her Edith but call her Edie if you prefer. Edith sounds to me like a strong, capable woman. Edie sounds like a caring, friendly one. These are, of course, purely my prejudices!
But if you give her Edith, she can choose later.

GetTheSprinkles · 04/08/2020 22:19

Having grown up with a name viewed as 'old fashioned' I have to say, I'm not a fan

MrsBungle · 04/08/2020 22:18

Too twee for my taste.

IHeartSusanDey · 04/08/2020 22:18

I don't like it at all....sorry OP. Very old fashioned and also twee. I don't think it sounds very good. But if you like it, that's all that matters.
