Is Henry a posh name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Onceuponatimethen · 04/08/2020 23:58

No - it’s classless (could be a posh name or for anyone)

JustAddCoffee91 · 04/08/2020 23:55

I don't think it's posh... it's a lovely name
Also a great hoover

123Dancewithme · 04/08/2020 23:50

No, it’s quite mainstream now. Although when I used it for my DS’s middle name my parents weren’t keen as they thought it was too posh!

SummerNamechangeHappened · 04/08/2020 23:05

Would "posh" be a good thing or a bad thing in your opinion op?

Foxes157 · 04/08/2020 22:58

Certainly not posh. It's my son's middle name, named after his very working class great grandads.

AntiAuntieAnty · 04/08/2020 22:27

Definitely mainstream. Neutral I think, like Thomas, James, William etc.

I don't think it was ever a name which belonged to a particular class tbh, so not entirely sure why pps are implying it used to be posh. I know Henrys in their 60s and 70s who are definitely not posh.

kittenpeak · 04/08/2020 21:38

Not anymore

TitianaTitsling · 04/08/2020 21:35

@Florence234

What does 'posh' even mean? Hmm
Port Out Starboard Home according to maritime lore I've been told...
CoffeeRunner · 04/08/2020 21:32

No it isn’t. I mean it certainly isn’t “common” or “chavy” but it isn’t posh either.

That applies to most classic timeless names TBH. See also Daniel, James, Matthew, Elizabeth, Sarah, Lucy etc etc etc.

Grufallosfriends · 04/08/2020 20:35

Seriously, what is this obsession with 'class'?!Hmm

Grufallosfriends · 04/08/2020 20:35

Horrid Henry is not posh? Grin

chubbyhotchoc · 04/08/2020 20:33

No boring

daisypond · 04/08/2020 20:33

Neutral now. Might have been posh a good few years ago but no longer. Horrid Henry is not posh and those books have been around for ages.

Sunshines123 · 04/08/2020 20:29

No it’s a traditional name but not posh x

Andante57 · 04/08/2020 20:27

This. Op are you worried you might catch ‘posh’?
Florence234 · 04/08/2020 20:27

Nope, very normal for any baby regardless of poshness

But how can a baby be 'posh' Hmm?

PoodleMoth · 04/08/2020 20:24

Nope!

JanewaysBun · 04/08/2020 19:59

Nope, very normal for any baby regardless of poshness

User27aw · 04/08/2020 19:57

It was very posh but not so much anymore.

Angel2702 · 04/08/2020 19:55

I have an 11 year old Henry I’d say it was a neutral name not posh.

Florence234 · 04/08/2020 19:54

What does 'posh' even mean? Hmm

peachypetite · 04/08/2020 19:52

I know of three baby Henrys born recently, families not particularly posh! It’s definitely more mainstream now.

Grumpbum123 · 04/08/2020 19:50

Nope I have a Henry and we are not posh

Thistlegirl4 · 04/08/2020 19:49
