It's posh if you're 30 or 40. Not remotely posh if you're 2.

coronabeer23 · 23/08/2020 20:48

I like it but still think it’s a posh boy name

sweetnosugar · 08/08/2020 10:25

I don’t think any name is posh. I’m not a huge fan of people associating names with class. I think it’s best to choose whatever name you like. Your baby your choice. ☺️
As for Henry, I think it’s lovely.

Yankathebear · 08/08/2020 03:33

@babydisney you’ve misunderstood. I was genuinely interested. I wasn’t being rude. As I said how and why is it upper middle class?
I think that you may be overthinking my post.

Staffori · 08/08/2020 03:26

Common as muck these days.

babydisney · 08/08/2020 03:15

The emphasis is on you as a parent*

babydisney · 08/08/2020 03:14

@yankthe bear, no need to get heated over a name. I was simply implying the name was typically upper middle class due to its private school and Royal associations.
And as for your second statement you proved my point that it does not matter what you name your baby and that the emphasis is on what you name your baby and the socio-economic way you raise your child.

Yankathebear · 08/08/2020 03:01

@babydisney

Typically upper middle, but I always think its on the parents, you could name your daughter Ruby but might be incredibly upper class and could name your son Sebastian but be bottom of the barrel
I don’t understand? Why and how is it typically upper middle?

Op, forget about class just call your baby something that you love.

Yankathebear · 08/08/2020 02:59

Now that you’ve changed it to pretentious, no it’s not.

No. It is a classic, old name. Henry is about as posh as Sarah is, only difference is there were kings called Henry.

Timeless, not posh.

Zhampagne · 05/08/2020 13:41

Henry is both eight kings of England and a very reliable hoover. Universal.

reginafalange2020 · 05/08/2020 13:34

My son is called Henry. I don't think it's posh but maybe "old fashioned" perhaps? Just choose a name you love, who cares what others think?

Poppydaisies · 05/08/2020 13:30

Is pretentious the same as posh?!

I don't like Henry.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 05/08/2020 12:36

Tarquin and Ptolemy are pretentious.

Henry is classic, and very popular.

KoalasandRabbit · 05/08/2020 12:32

Used to be posh, now very mainstream traditional name.

Grufallosfriends · 05/08/2020 11:02

Why would it be bad if Henry is 'posh'? Hmm It sounds like some awful disease?

Thomas17 · 05/08/2020 10:58

@Whatsyourflava would probably be a bad thing. DH & I really like the name but just don't want to be pretentious.

My nephew is a Henry, named after his great-grandfather who worked for the Liverpool coal board. So not posh!

SendHelp30 · 05/08/2020 10:15

Not at all

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 05/08/2020 10:14

Yes

Whatsyourflava · 05/08/2020 10:13

Unsure if posh is good or bad to you @Thomas17

But no I don't think the name is posh. It's just a lovely name

Grufallosfriends · 05/08/2020 08:20

it could be a posh name or for anyone

But it can't be both at the same time? Hmm

A person might be regarded as 'posh' but a name?
