I'm reading a book at the moment and one of the characters is called Seredith. I've never heard this name before. Have you?
What do you think of it?

@Tillygetsit

I don't think people have bothered to read my OP. I am NOT wanting to call a baby that..I lost a baby at 4hrs old just before lockdown and there are certainly no plans for another after that.
I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you x

OP, I am sorry for your tragic loss.

I don't think anyone was being mean--they didn't know your (very upsetting) situation about your poor little baby.

Sounds like one of those over-the-counter preparations you can buy to help you sleep

Twisique · 30/07/2020 11:40

I quite like it, but I also liked the Binding. It does sound like it's an old name.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 30/07/2020 11:11

I was just curious and wondered if it was an old name as The Binding is historical fiction of sorts.

It's fantasy, which is why the author has made up some names.

GoshHashana · 30/07/2020 09:32

Awful. Like Renesmee.

NataliaOsipova · 30/07/2020 08:51

@Boscoismyspiritanimal

Sounds like a prescription drug
This was my thought too! I used to know a lady called Meredith, though, and always liked that name.
Chickoletta · 30/07/2020 08:49

Thought it was a typo. Meredith is beautiful.

FelicityPike · 30/07/2020 08:47

I think it’s horrible. Sorry.
Meredith is lovely and fairly unusual these days.

allfalldown47 · 30/07/2020 08:42

Apologies if this sounds brutal, at worst it sounds like a std, at best like a typo.
Sorry!

JacquelineLadyBugg · 30/07/2020 08:33

I'm not massively keen on the sound, but then, I don't even like the name Seren...think it's the Ser- bit I'm not especially keen on. That said, I think Seren is a lovely alternative to Seredith.

I also really like Meredith, with nn options Merry, Red, Edie.

Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou · 30/07/2020 06:21

I don’t like it at all

AngelaScandal · 30/07/2020 06:14

Sounds like a prescription drug

Tillygetsit · 30/07/2020 06:13

It's not YA or science fiction. I was just curious and wondered if it was an old name as The Binding is historical fiction of sorts.

Seren is a welsh name, think it is nice without the 'dith' stuck on. I think it means star, but I am not welsh so not sure.

user1477391263 · 30/07/2020 04:15

I don't think it's hideous at all, but yes, very YA "unique".

I think I would mishear it as "Sarabeth".

DerbyshireGirly · 30/07/2020 02:31

Hideous

MrsKypp · 30/07/2020 02:30

It reminds me of Shoreditch! haha.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/07/2020 02:29

It's like Meredith gone wrong

Allmyeye · 29/07/2020 23:37

Typo for Meredith.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 29/07/2020 23:36

There's a trend in some YA/sci-fi books to make up names by mashing real ones together. Are there other odd ones in the book?

LemonyFace · 29/07/2020 23:24

@LouiseTrees

Like it’s a typo and should be Meredith
Yep! Exactly what I was thinking.
RedRec · 29/07/2020 23:21

It is awful.

PineappleSquosh · 29/07/2020 23:19

I’d assume it was a typo for Meredith. Which is lovely btw.
