Can I get away with this?

DD1 has a normal first name, X Gardiner. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and if it's a girl, we like Holly....but then it would be Holly Gardiner :S

Will anyone notice? It was an unintentional joke, but we like the name now! I wouldn't want her to get bullied at school or anything, what do you think? And any middle name suggestions? Thanks :)

I love it

SunshineCake · 27/07/2020 14:58

Middle name wouldn't help unless you are hyphenating as one doesn't call people first and middle name all the time.

Holly is a lovely name but with your surname it is borderline mean.

Hillcrofta · 27/07/2020 14:55

@milienhaus I think Hilda was just a joke...

newmum332 · 27/07/2020 12:15

I think it’s absolutely fine. I didn’t even realise what you meant until I read further down the thread.

Puddlelane123 · 27/07/2020 12:05

Sounds very pretty - I wouldn’t hesitate to use it.

Lockdownfatigue · 27/07/2020 11:45

Molly Gardiner?

Tlollj · 27/07/2020 11:38

I like Holly think it’s nice. She’ll get called ‘olly where I live. But please by all that you hold dear don’t call her Hilda !

Bumpsadaisie · 27/07/2020 11:34

Iona Macintosh 🤣🤣🤣

Bumpsadaisie · 27/07/2020 11:33

Because it's Gardiner with an "i", I don't even hear or see "gardener" at all tbh.

Think it's fine.

noimkaren · 27/07/2020 11:33

Holly Gardiner, yes. Holly Bush or Holly Plant or Holly Berry, no. Hang, that's a thought, Halle Gardiner?

ILoveStickers · 27/07/2020 11:30

It's fine. Rose Gardiner is a bit silly, as "rose garden" is a thing. There's no such thing as a holly garden.

Holly is a nice name.

Twickerhun · 27/07/2020 11:26

It’s lovely.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/07/2020 09:26

I like it!

passthegin1234 · 27/07/2020 09:25

It's fine. Holly is a lovely name and I don't think most people would notice. As PP said, it's not the same as Rose Gardiner.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/07/2020 09:15

I can see a problem and I’m a very deep thinker with names.
Holly Beth Gardiner
Holly Louise Gardiner
Holly Paige Gardiner
Holly Ray Gardiner
Holly Frances Gardiner
Holly Jo Gardiner

clairethewitch70 · 27/07/2020 09:10

What about Hayley?

SeasonFinale · 27/07/2020 09:07

HMMM Savoy Cabbage - my son had a Holly Wood at his school.

My friend wanted Sophie for her daughter and her husband wanted Natalie but I then pointed out their surname West! Nat West!

I definitely think Holly Gardiner is a great name and agree with a "y"

Intastellaburst · 27/07/2020 08:49

I have a little Holly and would have used the name with your surname :)

WaltzingBetty · 27/07/2020 08:14

It's fine. Don't misspell it as Hollie - you won't fool anyone as it's the sound that matters and you'll just add a lifetime of her spelling out her name.

Holly Gardiner is about a million times better than Hilda Grin

milienhaus · 27/07/2020 08:06

I think it’s completely fine.

Hilda Gardiner would be a mistake since Hildegard is also a name and it would be confusing.

milliewildflower · 27/07/2020 08:00

I think it’s fine. lol at awful thing to do to your child Grin Hilda would be an awful thing to do!

lilylion · 27/07/2020 07:59

I’m sorry but I would notice and I think it’s a pretty awful thing to do to your child.

saraclara · 27/07/2020 07:42

I wouldn't even notice. And it sounds lovely.

MikeUniformMike · 27/07/2020 07:41

A middle name won't break it up. Polly or Molly would be better.

123Dancewithme · 26/07/2020 23:46

It makes me think of the app Hollie Guard, I think most people wouldn’t have that association though!
