Boho, earthy, nature boys names that are useable.

Stuck on a boy's name. I love the boho, earthy, hippie type names and I don't like traditional names. The type of names I like are River, Fox, Bear etc, but I'd like something with that sort of feel but also a bit more useable snd socially acceptable to people, also something my partner wouldn't say is too weird.

River is really cool! Maybe if your DH realised it isn't that unusual these days he could be persuaded on that.
My baby daughter is called Rowan @Mermaidlagoon so it's more of a girl name to me but that's only because I'm biased!
I know it's predominantly a girl name in Scotland (in top 100 for girls there and not boys) and transitioning to a girl name in America but over here in Uk more boys are currently still given the name at the moment so we shall see if the transition to girls name happens over here too. It's a nice name but if I'd realised that RoMan was the fastest rising boy name, I wouldn't have chose it as my daughter is always "Rowan with a W" as there's 2 Romans (with an M) at the small local nursery. I think a couple/few years ago it wouldn't have been a problem though as Roman was rare then. Roman, Rohan, Roan all quite trendy now🙄 just my luck 😆
I do like nature names though..
Oakley is nice and I love Jasper. Asher is cool and Asa.

If he’s not keen on rowan what about something like Rohan or Ronin. I know little boys with both and they’re lovely names.

autumnkate · 27/07/2020 17:29

Or Ronan is an Irish name that means little seal

autumnkate · 27/07/2020 17:28

Wolfe

Thank you everyone there's some great ideas in there. I love River but my partner thinks it's weird. It's also funny how many of you said Rowan, I suggested Rowan and my partner thought I was only saying it because I'm a big Rowan Atkinson fan but that was a happy coincidence and I genuinely do love the name, might have to push for that one!

Blake I like as it has "lake" within it

Whatsyourflava · 25/07/2020 15:15

If you like "River" (I love it too by the way)

then how about "Clyde" or "Nile" (rivers)

Or you might like Cliff or Clay?

I think when our generation thinks of names were imagining a "River" at school with us in the 80s surrounded by Dave's and Nick's. It's very different these days though and River would sound much less surprising to me than "John" to be honest 🤣 (I love John as a name too though)

Dreamingofbeans · 25/07/2020 15:10

Sage? I know a Sage, a lovely little boy
