Thoughts on Sabre??

My DH really likes the name Sabrina but I'm not a fan. Mainly because she's probably going to be blonde (like me, DH and the kids) which sounds a little familiar- Sabrina the teenage witch!😂 we discussed this and he suggested Sabina, which I was unsure of, or Sabre witch (pun intended) I like. Any thoughts??

Awful. I'm doing nursery transition at the moment, giving a kid that name is going to seriously make for some pre-judgement from parents/friends/teachers. Sounds violent. I'm not one for frilly girly names for girls and rugged masculine names for boys but Sabre is really horrible.

ConiferGate · 22/07/2020 13:32

Awful

back2good · 22/07/2020 13:32

Please don't.

tillytoodles1 · 22/07/2020 13:31

No

Bbq1 · 22/07/2020 13:27

Ugh, no way.

IllustriousToad · 22/07/2020 13:24

Reminds me of an episode of the American Office where they are taken over by w company called Sabre and sing a song about it... so no, definitely not a good name for a child! A dog, maybe?

feesh · 22/07/2020 13:24

Fucking hell

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 22/07/2020 13:22

I don’t like Sabre at all. It immediately reminds me of those awful American daytime soaps my gran used to love where all the characters had to have these weird “strong” sounding names like Storm, Thorne, Hunter, Ridge etc. Sorry, I just think it’s an awful idea for a name!

Whatthebloodyell · 22/07/2020 13:17

My first thought was printers that burst into flames!

I like Sabeena though.

rottiemum88 · 22/07/2020 13:14

I also went straight to 'tooth tiger'.

Sabrina is a pretty name. Blonde or not, kids when she's growing up won't have a clue about a TV programme which stopped filming in the early 00s.

Anoisagusaris · 22/07/2020 13:08

Wasn’t there a dog in the early Adrian Mole books called Sabre? Grin

Giggorata · 22/07/2020 13:08

Friends used to have A German Shepherd called Sabre. I think it would be a trying name to inflict on a child.

CarolVordermansArse · 22/07/2020 13:07

I prefer Hatchet.

BlusteryLake · 22/07/2020 13:04

A bit like naming your child machete, épée or any other kind of sharp sword!

RedRec · 22/07/2020 12:55

Horses, cars, stupid baby names. You are on a roll today, OP.

Tish008 · 22/07/2020 12:50

What about Sabriel?

flossletsfloss · 22/07/2020 12:45

Hate it, but who cares what I think.

GarlicMcAtackney · 22/07/2020 12:42

‘Sabina’?! Sabina Vagina-hearing that for your entire lifespan would get tedious pretty quickly 😄

userabcname · 22/07/2020 12:42

@TitianaTitsling The Office was my first thought too!

sodabreadjam · 22/07/2020 12:40

Yes for a German shepherd or Doberman. Not for a child.

GarlicMcAtackney · 22/07/2020 12:40

You want to name a person Sabre Witch? Would you like to be called that?

Carandi · 22/07/2020 12:36

Great name. If they have siblings you can call them Amadeus and Galileo (travel GDSs) Grin.

elfran · 22/07/2020 12:35

Er, I just think of tigers or Jedis.

What about Sabine? Or its slightly more phonetic spelling, Sabina.

Polkadotdelight · 22/07/2020 12:27

Reminds me of a YouTube family called the Norris Nuts who are really loud and annoying - one of the daughters is called Sabre.

Toilenstripes · 22/07/2020 12:27

I think it’s awful. What about Sabine or Sabina?
