How do people feel about this? Her big brother is Alexander Charles, and Alexander and Elizabeth seem to go hand in hand. Thanks Smile

Beautiful and classic! Love it with your son's name too.

Sarahbeans · 20/07/2020 15:04

Love it. I think the range of nicknames is actually an advantage, OP.

I teach and so many kids (especially girls) dislike their names, and like to use shortened versions... and there are so many options with Elizabeth.

Over the years I have taught Elizabeths that have been shortened to: Liz, Lizzie, Ellie, Beth, Betsy, Eliza, Libby and Dizzy. Of course, I have also taught Elizabeths who do not shorten their name at all.

But unlike other long names, there is no one nickname that is the natural shortening. Eg it's not like Robert which people automatically shorten to Rob, often without asking. So people are far less likely to shorten it without asking.

Goes lovely with Alexander too,

Boring!!! They are beautiful names and a lovely combination.

Prettylittlelady · 20/07/2020 05:28

To me it’s very boring, I love Grace but not in the middle as it’s always there - I’m considering it as a first name and Elizabeth is a name I absolutely cannot stand.
However, if you love it, go for it.

Saz42 · 18/07/2020 09:00

Beautiful pretty names. Not boring at all.

emilybrontescorsett · 18/07/2020 08:58

Gorgeous name.

IdblowJonSnow · 18/07/2020 02:07

Agree Libby is the nicest shortened version, quite like Beth. Claire would be better as a middle name than Grace.

tripletsss · 18/07/2020 02:03

Grace and rose are the middle names that sound ok but can't think of anything better. Very standard and unimaginative

tripletsss · 18/07/2020 02:01

Elizabeth is beautiful. Grace is boring especially together. Find a more personal or unique middle name

mamaduckbone · 17/07/2020 22:06

It's very pretty and classic. My favourite shortening is Libby.

Twizbe · 17/07/2020 22:06

Link not like

moonlight1705 · 17/07/2020 22:05

DD is an Elizabeth and if she had been a boy then we would have had an Alexander so it obviously works as a pair Smile

Grace is pretty as a middle name.

Twizbe · 17/07/2020 22:04

It's my name so totally biased here but I love Elizabeth.

One of the reasons my parents chose it was because there are so many short forms. I was Lizzie as a child and Liz as an adult. No one else has shortened it for me, it's always been what I introduce myself as. A lot of people also don't like Liz to Elizabeth 🤷🏼‍♀️

In terms of middle names, I like (and one of these is mine but don't want to be too outing)

Grace
Claire
Ann
Frances
Jane

We have an Elizabeth Grace in our family. She is called Elizabeth by the whole extended family - never anything else. She may choose when she's older to change that, but for now, that's her name and that's what she's called. A lovely, timeless classic name.

This could be revealing but one of my grandchildren are called this, and I love it

JuneWind · 17/07/2020 22:01

If you’re not entirely sure on Grace for a middle name, then how about Elizabeth Pearl?

BurtsBeesKnees · 17/07/2020 21:58

I think it's lovely

CrotchetyQuaver · 17/07/2020 21:57

Very nice name she wont be embarrassed by when she's all grown up

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/07/2020 21:55

Grace is a lovely name , a bit overused , I think ( although my DD has its as a middle name as my grandma was a Grace )
Elizabeth Claire
Elizabeth Eleanor
Elizabeth Frances

NataliaOsipova · 17/07/2020 21:54

people might shorten it to many different things and it could get rather confusing.

Generally, once one diminutive “sticks”, that’s it. (In my experience, anyway!). I have two friends and two relatives who are Katherine. One is Kate, one is Katy, one is Kath and one is always just Katherine. Never any confusion or mixing it up.

Really like Elizabeth as a name. It’s classic and timeless.

Mum2beSept2020 · 17/07/2020 21:53

Love it

Spidey66 · 17/07/2020 21:50

I think it’s lovely. Elegant and will age well, and Elizabeth has so many nn options.

AlphaDalpha · 17/07/2020 21:49

Lovely!
